FYI Changes to your receipts regarding coupons

If you haven't seen it yet, coupons are being listed on your receipt by product.

See the two attachments below and you will see that what used to say 'scanned coupon' has changed to reflect the product and dept.

I'm sure this was done to help track coupon usage more accurately and of course to detect and deter fraud. I'm happy about it because now it is a lot easier to see if a coupon was missed and what it was.

I think this is great. Makes it easy to locate all the coupons you used on your receipt and that they scanned properly.

I haven't tried this and can't confirm it but this may result in a correction of the post-coupon sales tax at GE. It was in the news in the Pgh. area a couple of months ago that the GE registers were not programmed to reduce the sales tax on taxable items for which coupons were used. GE's argument was that their registers were not programmed to match coupons to items. This change may correct that problem.

I know that some people have previously gone to the service desk to ask for a refund of their taxable total when coupons were used. This is particularly important on cleaning products, batteries, air fresheners.

Watch your receipts and see if this change effects your correct taxable total.

ETA: Example-If you buy a pack of batteries with a sales price of $2.99 and use a 75¢ coupon which doubles to $1.50, your taxable total SHOULD BE $1.49 or 9¢ tax, not 18¢.

I went yesterday and I love the change I love to be able to see they didn't skip any coupons. and to see which were FREE after doubling.

I believe this might also be so that they can eventually stop the usage of E-coupons and paper coupons on the same item. My Kroger stores now only allow you to use either an e-coupon or a paper coupon on each item. When I asked about it a bit at Kroger, I was told it's because they're both manufacturer coupons and some manufacturers (P&G and General Mills among them) have complained about the usage of 2 coupons on one item and have begun to pressure retailers to curb this. E-coupons don't double, so I've stopped adding them to my Kroger card because they can't remove them at store level. Why would I want $1 off when I could get double that with a paper coupon (AND ensure it actually comes off, unlike about 50% of e-coupons I load)? I also heard rumblings of this one day at GE while I walked past the service desk to leave. I tried not to be nosy and just stop to listen. I guess I should just ask when I'm in there next time.

Kroger e-coupons used to come off at the bottom, but in my region it has been changed in the last few months where a box pops up after items are scanned stating which e-coupons are loaded for which products. You then have to decide whether you want to use the e-coupon or remove the item from your order.

I actually belong to several boards that forbid the discussion of stacking e-coupons with paper coupons due to complaints from certain chains, so the change might not be too far off.

This is fabulous!! I have left coupons at home by accident & GE's policy has been to allow you up to 7 days to bring the coupon and receipt so the q can be redeemed. The Bethel Park store ( not Market District, the one by Walmart) always gives me problems honoring the corporate policy. One team member actually implied that I was committing coupon fraud because I had other coupons on the $60 order so the ones I was trying to redeem HAD to be duplicates. If the receipt is matched now, I will be thrilled to bits.... Until P&G starts saying their promotional thresholds are counted after coupons! :)

That's my store and I've run into the same problem. Fortunately, some at CS know me and know I'm not lying to them but, most of the time, I don't even bother trying to redeem a q if I forgot it or if the cashier missed it.

Or when the seller takes a long time to ship the coupons.
I like it too! NO Questions when looking at the receipt now!

When there's a sale +$MM (with coupons & cats), it is better to buy the product, during the sale, without the coupons(to get your cats), than after the sale. Then go to cs to get your money for the coupons! Now they are adjusting the rain checks with -cats, and the coupons are adjusting to the sale price= NO +$MM, Just FREE
