I have always defended the concept that any one person's needs vary from another's. I personally will buy 200 Powerade at a time because my kids take it for practice and my DH takes it to work so at 3/day that is only about 2 months worth. I will also buy 60 boxes of pasta at any given time and pretty much all the baby wipes I can get at any given time.

On the other hand, I completely understand why it is frustrating to so many that they decide to do their weekly shop they find empty shelves on a good sale item. Not everyone treats grocery shopping like an extreme couponer does and to many it is not a game of who gets their first - they just want to do their shopping when they have time, save a little money, and get back out the door back to everything else going on. I try to remain respectful of this when I shop because I too feel it is a PITA to miss a deal and/or need a raincheck (although I have yet to have a problem w/ one). I think Giant Eagle is trying to be respectful of other shoppers as well and I personally find it refreshing that a big business is showing concern for all their shoppers, not just a handful. Whatever the final verdict is (12/day, 12/card, whatever), it is what it is and that is it…. Sure there will be times I find the new rule annoying, but eh, that's life!

Since many of us here have been shopping coupons w/ GE for quite some time and are very familiar w/ their how their sales work, etc, we know how to buy 5 or 50 or 500 of any particular item, get it cheap or free, make money off of it sometimes, and be happy with what we bought.

i know exactly what u mean about the powerade. i got 8 cases at the beginning of summer. ds started football practice and does share with his drop over friends. we are down to having just 3 cases in just 2 months. snack bars are taken by anyone and we go through a ton of snack crackers, bars, etc. so i never judge what someone else is buying. i think 12 qs is reasonable, looking back i think the only thing this puts a damper on for me is pizza rolls. darn, but i think i'll live another day or two......

I bought some of the Apple & Eve Fruitables today (they were cheap after the $.75/1 IP). I gave my son one of the Harvest Apple ones, and after one sip, he refused to drink the rest. I tried it, and sure enough, it's pretty terrible.

I bought one of each variety. So, hopefully, they're not all so bad.

Haven't tried the Apple Juice one, but we've had the mixed berry and Strawberry Kiwi? They aren't that bad.
My kids notice a bit of difference in taste to these and the Hi C or other sugared drinks. Too bad. These actually have some fruit in them.

While waiting in line ..."I'm glad to see you like our product" I turn around and a guy tells me that he's a corp manager of land o lakes and asks if I knew that it was made in Kent, Oh (I was at the Streetsboro store, so right down road). He and I talked a few min about stuff while I waited in line. I admit, I was feeling a little shy about checking out because of getting the butter for free, I almost ducked out of line, but was in a hurry. I cringed as the cashier started scanning my q's, the lol guy was actually watching that little screen that faces the customers and questioned the sale price and coupon doubling. I said yes, it's free after the q dbls, but I really do like it, even when it's not free I buy it, and I almost begged for him not to stop making coupons. He said that he's not in charge of coupons and he wouldn't bring it up to any corp meetings, he laughed and said he just wished he knew so he could've gotten some for free. He said the way he looked at it was that no matter what we actually paid for it at the register, the more we bought it, the more they needed to make and in turn more employees needed and in this economy that was a good thing all around. I didn't think about it that way until then, but it's true.
