QUESTION gift card question

Does anyone know if there is a limit in dollar amount on gift cards you can get and still get the 20 cents off? We are looking at getting a new laptop and figure that we might as well get a free tank of gas too :) But before I go buy all the gift cards wanted to see if it will work that way?

I have bought many many many gift cards and always gotten the 20 cents. just remember that the fuel perks are only lasting 2 months from the end of the month that you purchase them. So don't spend too much.

Yea the only limit might be if it is privately owned store. I know Crafton limits them, but the company owned store do not.

Last year I purchased $650 worth of Best Buy gift cards at Giant Eagle when it was time to purchase a new refrigerator.

At the Giant Eagle checkout, my gift card purchase was denied.

There, at Giant Eagle’s Customer Service Desk, I called my credit card company asking why it was denied.

It was an anti-fraud check-n-balance.

While still on the telephone with my credit card company, I answered security questions that then allowed me to purchase the gift cards.

With any major purchase, like a refrigerator or a computer laptop, ask questions.

One question to ask is how a refund is executed when purchasing an item with gift cards.

I would ask questions at Best Buy before making the purchase, making it perfectly clear that you will be using Best Buy gift cards purchased at Giant Eagle.

+

Two years ago I purchased Home Depot gift cards at Giant Eagle for a lawnmower purchase.

Back them, it was Home Depot gift cards that required a 24 hour wait before you can use the gift cards.

Again, an anti-theft check-n-balance.

I cleared with the Home Depot people …

I would purchase the lawnmower with a major credit card and the next day, I would do a return on my credit card and then pay for the lawnmower with the gift cards.

(There was a time issue [a Giant Eagle promotion expiring], about 20˘ off per $50.00 vs. 10˘ off per $50.00)

This year, I was told by a Home Depot associate that there is no longer a 24 hour wait on Home Depot gift cards purchased at Giant Eagle.

A friend who is a contractor and has a child in a private school that sells script (gift cards). He buys the GE gift cards from the school, then takes them over to GE and buys Home Depot gift cards. He gets credit from the school for purchasing gift cards, then gets fuel perks from GE when he uses the GE gift cards to buy the Home Depot gift cards.

Our Public School District also does "Scrip" cards to help families offset the cost of school fees and athletic fees. I always buy Giant Eagle Cards and then use those cards to purchase other Gift Cards at Giant Eagle. We have 5 kids and I haven't had to pay school or athletic fees for the last 2 years.
