Do their rain checks have an expiration date?

I was in line today at the Parmatown Giant Eagle in Parma, OH, with a cashier telling a customer ahead of me how she had rung up the redemption of his rain check.

The cashier then stated:

“Giant Eagle rain checks never expire.”

I find that interesting and I would like to know what others have been told.

There was a time at the Giant Eagle in Brook Park, OH where the cashiers were asking the head cashier:

“Q) Can we accept a rain check from another Giant Eagle?”

My store said there is no expiration either. Not sure if they accept RC from another store or not though - my RC all have a stamp on the back from the store they came from, but I never tried to use them other than where they were given - but I also don't really shop any other stores...

I've purchased raincheck items from a different GE store!

I have been told they never expire also, and I have used them at other GE's except for one I got from an independant GE, it had their address stamped on the back.

I have used rainchecks that were 3-4 years old with no problem lol

I never heard from any GE employee that they expire. I have had problems on my LARGE quantity rainchecks, when I redeemed them at another location. Because they had to write me a NEW raincheck for the balance (and they knew they don't stock a LARGE quantity of that item). Now, I just get small quantity rainchecks (20 or less) and have had no problem using at other locations.

I have also been told by G.E. employees that their rainchecks never expire. However, this week I tried to redeem a raincheck from one G.E. at another G.E and was told that I could only redeem it from the store that originally wrote it. Ugh!

I've found that the independent stores usually put a 30 day limit on theirs. Otherwise, corporate stores have no expiration date.
