Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and the coupon shopping scene and wanted to share my thoughts on the TGIF skillet meal/snacks that are on sale this week.
First of all, I'm really excited about this deal for our family. The TGIF snack quesadillas are the perfect size for my wife to take to lunch. The skillet meals could either be made 2 at a time for the 5 of us, or I could make one and whip up a quick salad if the meal was too spicy for the kids.
The deal works like this: (I saw it on here somewhere, so don't give me credit)
The breakdown is this:
- Get the $1.50/1 coupon for the TGIF snacks at coupons.com
- Buy two Tgif snacks ($3 each this week) that have a $2.00 peelie for the entrees.
- Buy two TGIF entrees (2/$12 -$4 off instantly - the coupons)
2 snacks for $6 - ($1.50 x 2) = $3
2 entrees for $12 - ($4 + ($2.00 x 2)) = $4
So, $7 nets you 2 snacks and 2 entrees. I think that's awesome!
I did this as a test run, and I tried the product to make sure it was something I wanted more of. I tried the Cajun style alfredo Chicken and Shrimp. I was really happy with the taste (280-ish calories per serving, 2.5 servings per box), but it was too spicy for the kids. I ended up splitting the serving into two for me and my coupon patron (haha, new terminology!) for about a 420 calorie serving, which was enough for me to eat.
Thanks for the additional info on this deal!
There is a $2 off of a skillet meal in the 2/21 SS - actually there were two - one expiring 4/30 and one 7/11
Thanks for the reviews.

I tried the potato and broccoli skillet meal. I was not as impressed as I was with the one I tried above. It makes an ok side dish, but it's not something I'd buy if it wasn't at this price.
I was, however, impressed again by the asian peanut chicken. It's a bit higher in calorie content, but had that perfect amount of spicy kick. I'd definitely buy another. Split into two servings seems about right for me and the wife.
The quesadilla snacks that the $2 coupon comes from didn't wow me. They're hot pocket style items. I found the heating to be very uneven in the microwave. Mine needed about 4 minutes to thoroughly heat, leaving the outside edges too crispy and the middle too limp. I didn't try heating on the skillet. I'd imagine that this would improve them a great deal. The mexican was way better than the regular chicken, but both fillings were rather smooth and not chunky like I would have preferred.
I got the steak and chicken fajita one's. My store didn't have a huge variety. I have tried the steak one's. They are OK but I def. would not pay full price for these. You don't get very much steak and that's what I prefer more of in my fajita's. I have not tried the chicken one's yet.

So far the only meal we liked was the Chicken Brocolli Alfredo. The Sesame chicken was blaah and the Potato, Chicken, and cheese was blaah. They weren't horrible, but I would never spend $10 on them!
I didn't like the quesadilla roll snacks - don't know if those are the same ones you were talking about, but they were bland and just not very tasty at all. I love the potato skins and mozzarella sticks though!
OMGosh..I would never pay full price for these either, BUT at 2 per meal....not bad. DH ate the whole bag tho.
As far as the little boxes we always eat the potato skins, moz. sticks, poppers and onion rings..I think those are all good.
