    QUESTION Rain check question

Okay, I ordered some coupons from a clipping service, however they won't get here before Wednesday when this sale ends. I went up to GE to get rainchecks on the ragu, icbinb, and Hellmans. For the ragu, the girl wrote it 10 quantity @ $1 each. She said they can't give me a cat after Wednesday so she figured it this way. So in all actuality, I am not getting as good a deal this way right? Or am I all wet? Isn't she figuring it on sale price and not shelf? I am SO confused! Help!

It is my opinion that it is us customers that have figured out and use 'shelf price vs. sale price.'

Mention it to a Giant Eagle employee and you will just get a blank stare.

Most likely because they are not aware of the difference.

One thing to consider is keeping the coupons for the next time this Catalina offer is advertised.

More than once I have obtained a Giant Eagle raincheck on a Catalina offer where the cashier wrote up the sale price and the quantity but added that If I spent enough that I qualified for the Catalina coupon.

When redeeming that raincheck they just subject the dollar amount that the Catalina coupon was valued at since it will not print after the sale.

(I know that this does not help with the shelf price pricning [Going by the shelf price means that you have less to purchase to earn the Catalina coupon]).

    Also ...

What I do is I tape the advertised item's ad to the raincheck ... that helps explain the offer when you are redeeming the raincheck.

If she did her math correctly she should have written $.94 each must buy 16.

    $20/$1.25=16
    $20-$5oyno=$15/16=$.94

This is by sale price since it's hard for the cs to understand the shelf price like Terry mentioned. If you explain they often think it is wrong for you to do it that way.
