DD3 Giant Eagle turkey deals

I need to buy a Thanksgiving turkey. Will GE have better prices if I wait until closer to Thanksgiving? I have foodperks I was going to use this week, but I can save them to use on the turkey shopping trip if that makes sense. I wasn't hard-core couponing last year at this time so I don't know how the cycle goes. Thanks!

GE usually doesn't lower their prices on holiday meats as it gets closer to the holiday; however, in the past they have matched competitors' lower prices for the same brand/size of turkey if you show them the competitor's ad. If you can find a store near you that is advertising a lower price on turkeys, it's worth a shot. Even better if you can snag a coupon (Honeysuckle and Butterball are good for coupons around Thanksgiving) plus use your foodperks...that bird will be practically free!

I remember GE being all over the map with their prices for Turkey's. It depends on what area you live. I tried to price match Erie's GE turkey prices to pgh and was shot down.

Hubby said Wal Mart had turkeys for 60 cents a pound. Not sure what type or brand.

Walmart put out a press release that they will have turkeys for 40c a pound. Reports are that Jenny-o and I think another brand are the 40c ones. They have others for 60c/lb, and I believe butterball was reported to be 99c/lb.

I havent been to WM yet to verify our area has the 40c ones, but it will either cause a price war and GE and SnS will lower theirs, or WM may end up being the place to go for turkeys this year!

Walmart put a full page ad in our Cleveland Plain Dealer earlier this week advertising their $0.40/lb turkey. Once the price match statements come out from GE then I plan on using this ad I tore out to get my bird for at least $0.40/lb.

I actually just got back from GE and saw that their Giant Eagle brand turkeys are on sale for $.29/lb. So I guess I answered my own question! I don't think that's a sale price so I may as well wait and see if anything better comes along in the meanwhile. Thanks again for all the responses!

What GE has that price. That's the lowest I have seen in years.

Kingsdale Giant Eagle in Columbus, Ohio. Does your GE have their brand turkeys at a higher price?
