FYI Does your school/ church have a "Smart Shopper" program?

Not sure if they are called the same thing, but thought I'd ask or remind those who do to look for it or use it.

Simply..the organization (church or school) buys huge amounts of gift cards from the stores. Giant Eagle, S N S, Mginness, Eat N Park, Kohls and a few others are in our program. You buy the gift cards from the group at face value and then the group and you make a profit for tuition credits or some other fundraiser. Depending on the store the profit varies. Giant Eagle has a 4% profit, Eat N Park 10%......So, the church gets 2% or 5% and the family gets the other profit. Some groups might do it different and take 100% profit, but our school splits it up.

Just saying...this is a great fundraiser for any large group to look into.

We used to do the script program, but everyone was getting the Giant Eagle cards, then buying the other gift cards there to get the fuel perks.

My son's school doesn't do this, but I honestly think every school should.

Hmmmm, maybe I will email the PTO lady now!

It is great. Its money you will spend anyway, so you are not asking for anything but just to preplan. Heck...it is free money and you benefit with the fuel perks too. Win -win.

Hi All

We also use the Scrip program at our school but I would like a little more information about this program.

Do you buy all the gift cards from Giant Eagle?
If not, do you go to the indivdual stores?
How much do you have to buy to get a discount on the gift cards to be able to make a profit?

Thanks! always willing to save money!

Kathy

I don't run the program, so I'm not sure how may you would need to buy. I think they have a link on the home page for gift card orders or you would need to call corporate to set up a program.
I don't know if there is a program for the other cards or if they get the non grocery store ones at Giant Eagle too.
