Yes! I forgot to mention those biscuits. We make them a lot and they are good.

Neeky, get some of the cheap roasts when they are BOGO. Put them in the crock pot or the oven at 350. I just put some seasoned salt, worcestershire (sp?) sauce, sometimes some italian dressing, garlic salt (whatever I have in the cupboard) in on it. If you want, chop some potatoes (don't even need to peel them) and throw in some of the baby cut carrots. Add some water (maybe half way up the roast), cover and go. I let mine cook about 4 hrs b/c it will make the meat more tender (especially if you get a cheap cut). Then serve it with a bag o cheap veggies! KEEP THE BROTH!!
If you put it in the crock pot, I put it on high and let it cook all day.

When dinner is over, if you have leftovers, pull the meat apart (or cut it, whatever you like), dump it back into the roaster with the broth and add a bag of cheap stew vegetables or whatever veggies you like and you have vegetable beef soup. If you don't have enough broth, use some of the canned beef to it. I also like to add a can of crushed tomatoes and my MIL likes to add those white canned beans.

I do the same deal with the roaster chickens. Cook it up in the roaster w/ whatever seasonings you have and enough water to keep it from drying out. Serve for dinner or pull it apart, put it back in the broth, add some of those cheap noodles we got this week, maybe some of the free corn too and presto! You have homemade chicken noodle soup. You can serve it with some of those cheap Betty Crocker instant potatoes if you need to stretch it a bit.

I have learned some pretty creative ideas with these deals lately - and the family likes them!

I have frozen these before..they didn't pop & tasted fine, but they just didn't rise quite like non frozen ones do.

I went to GE 3 times and they didn't have the Pillsbury stuff...had to get a RC. Went in today to grab a few things (milk prices went up...do cows make less milk in cold weather or something?) and checked the Pillsbury status...even more wiped than when they were on sale! WTH? CS lady gave me a hard time about the RC too...she wrote it for 6/$6 and I told her it should be 6/$2 cuz of the OYNO. She said they don't do that and it's just for the sale period but I told her I was in 3 times! I mean why should I miss out just because they didn't have it stocked? All the other CS ladies always deduct the OYNO. She gave me that "just this one time" line and I thought, "Well, next time I won't ask you!"

I don't buy the Pillsbury stuff but my mom wanted them. I usually make my own cinnamon rolls but for so cheap I couldn't resist them! If I even get them! :shrug7:

I can hardly cook but I can make roasts.

I use the crockpot. I take the roast with a pack of onion soup mix, a can of cream of mushroom soup, and a bunch of water to cover the roast. I've used name brand and el cheapo and it doesn't matter so usually its Aldi's or Great Value (Walmart) brands for the soup mix and the soup. I put it in on high and let it go. I try to give mine 6 hours and then it falls apart.

You can do the above with or without browning the roast first. You get a better flavor if you brown it first. I didn't know how to do this but this is how I learned to. I put the frying pan on the stove with a little oil in it and heat it up. I open up the plastic over the BIGIF bundle of roast love from GE, coat the top with salt, pepper, granulated garlic and a little cayenne, then tip the tray over to dump that side down in the frying pan. I let that go a bit while I do the same seasoning to the other side of the roast, then I flip it. It only takes a few minutes.

My crockpot is only 5 quart and we like a lot of potatoes so I don't put them in with the roast. I will if I remember dump a bag of baby carrots from the produce dept. in with it. For potatoes, I make separatelly and the recipe I use is very very simple:
3 lbs potatoes (I use red or regular - doesn't matter)
1 stick of butter (I cut lengthwise into strips and spread on top)
1 cup water (this is all you need believe me altho it doesn't seem like enough)
1 envelope dry onion soup mix (same el cheapo)
Slice potatoes unpeeled into baking dish (I use one of those Corelle White things). Add butter, onion soup mix and water - I do in that order that way the water kinda washes over the soup mix. Cover and bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.

These turn out very very moist and very good.

I do this recipe a lot with those BIGIF roasts from GE and it seems to work the same regardless of how high on the food chain the roast quality is. What I haven't tried yet but would like to is making the roast and then using 1 cup of the juice from that as the water with the potatoes to see if that makes them taste more like they were made with the roast.

I made this Cinnamon French Toast Bake from Pillbury.com this morning for breakfast and it is a keeper in my family.

Last night I made a delicious garlic cheese bread with the Grands. I used a pyrex loaf pan, sprayed it with PAM. I then opened 2 "cans" of GRANDS and lined the bottom of the pan with them - I overlapped them first in one direction, then the other side in the opposite direction. Then I melted about 1/4c margarine with about 2 cloves of minced garlic. I poured this over the Grands. Then topped with about 1 c. of grated cheddar cheese. DH & DD's raved about this recipe. I think I got this recipe from Recipezaar.com a while ago, but now I just "wing it".

I dunno, if Bisquick still tastes the same as it did 30 years ago, there's something about it that I never liked....I don't think I've tasted it since I was little though - so maybe my tastes have changed. I got the one without trans fats, so I may open a box and see. But I have my own pancake recipe that is super easy and which the kids claim are 'the best pancakes ever' so I'm not going to mess with that! lol

I sooo need to learn how to cook though - I'm clueless when it comes to making a nice sit-down dinner (other than Thanksgiving). I would love to know how to make a roast, or even meatloaf LOL We were never big meat eaters when I was young - other than game-meat, but by the time I was old enough to learn how to cook, all my mom made from it was usually just hamburgers or grilled steaks.

About the only thing I can make that my picky family likes is lasagna. I make a mean mexican lasagna too - but only I like mexican food!

I think I'm going to make my mom write down some of her recipes for me. I've been in the mood for potato & leek soup, or broccoli soup...I'm not a big fan of canned soups - but I love homemade stews and cream soups :-)
OK I had a hard time figuring how to cook the tyson chicken from last week but even I know how to make a meatloaf!

I saw a Duh! thing today. I was picking out my Free ICBINB and I hear "Excuse me." This man reaches in front of me and picks up the Value Time Butter for $2.09 and right next to it is the LOL Butter for $2. All I can say is Duh!

Just wondering if anybody has baked with the ICBINB sticks? I figure since it's a MM I'll get it and use it for my holiday baking. Some things I need real butter for but other things margarine works just fine.
