This made me think about the meal I made last night....

chicken tenders (on sale the week I bought them plus an in-store coupon on the pack, paid less than 2.00 for them)
bread crumbs - breaded the tenders & fried them (last of my free crumbs from Weis)
Homemade gravy
Homemade mac & cheese (free Barilla from GE & free Heluva Good cheese block back from when Superfresh had triples)
Mashed Potatoes (.09 a pouch from GE)
Steamfresh corn (free from GE)

so I guess with the above & the flour, shortening, milk....what, around $3-3.50 ?

And had enough for leftovers tonite :-)

I've never done it, but I would think you could safely freeze them outside the tube, either by baking them first and then thawing and reheating or taking them out of the tube and putting them into a Ziploc. I don't think I'd try to freeze them in the cardboard tube, though.

Couple things from my GE visit tonight:

1) BOLF for a free-standing display for Pepperidge Farm. It has a little booklet with a bunch of recipes and coupons for:
$.55/1 Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Sheets or Shells
$.55/1 Pepperidge Farm Cookies (3-8.6 oz)
$.55/1 Pepperidge Farm Bread, Rolls, Bagels or English Muffins
$.55/3 Campbell's Condensed Cream Soups or Swanson 26 oz. Stock.

2) Also, GE now has boxes of crackers from Keebler marked with the Toy Cash rebate everyone is talking about. I had to look behind the front boxes to find them.

Can someone please explain to me why I have 30+ cookie mix pouches that only I like, 20 cans of broth that i don't know how to use, and 3 boxes of bisquik that I don't know how to use either? LOL

Thank goodness the food bank drive is coming up!

I have an awesome recipe for Broccoli, Cheese and Chicken Pie that uses bisquik. It comes out sort of quiche like. Super yummy and once by 2 year old veggie and meat phobic twins ate it. Never again though. LOL

ohh I have a recipe for something like that - it comes out like a crustless-quiche, yum! I found that if you puree half of the broccoli it's super yummy!

I dunno, if Bisquick still tastes the same as it did 30 years ago, there's something about it that I never liked....I don't think I've tasted it since I was little though - so maybe my tastes have changed. I got the one without trans fats, so I may open a box and see. But I have my own pancake recipe that is super easy and which the kids claim are 'the best pancakes ever' so I'm not going to mess with that! lol

I sooo need to learn how to cook though - I'm clueless when it comes to making a nice sit-down dinner (other than Thanksgiving). I would love to know how to make a roast, or even meatloaf LOL We were never big meat eaters when I was young - other than game-meat, but by the time I was old enough to learn how to cook, all my mom made from it was usually just hamburgers or grilled steaks.

About the only thing I can make that my picky family likes is lasagna. I make a mean mexican lasagna too - but only I like mexican food!

I think I'm going to make my mom write down some of her recipes for me. I've been in the mood for potato & leek soup, or broccoli soup...I'm not a big fan of canned soups - but I love homemade stews and cream soups :-)

I use the trans fat free Bisquick and like it. It doesn't taste as salty as the regular. If you look on their website there are some good recipes and the recipes on the box are good too.

Tell me about it! I bought 4 crappy, hideous canned frostings yesterday for the free eggs and pan. Cost me $2 and I'm donating those babies along with some free cake mix!

Also, Neekyme (sorry...don't know your first name) do you ever make homemade soups? The broths make great starters. Also, I personally don't like them cooked this way, but a lot of people I know a lot of people cook their veggies in meat broth to add flavor.

The garlic cheese biscuits from the recipe on the package of Bisquick are really good...they taste (almost) like the ones at Red Lobster. The biscuits and pancakes are the only two things I use bisquick for.
