    DD3 Mentos Gum - FREE!!!

    The Mentos Gum is on sale for $.99 until 6/03/09 per the shelf tag. There are $.55/1 and $1.00/1 Q's out there that will make them FREE!

    Just a heads up - I had the $1.00 Q's. The system just wasn't taking them for me today - they had to use a key and over-ride the Q's... Never had that problem before. Usually the Q's just adjust themselves - but maybe it was the way it was coded??? (As a side note, the two people behind me in line were the msot absolutely wonderfully sweet and patient people! It was a long wait for the person with the key and I apologized to them and they kept telling me it was no big deal. So sweet!)

    Awesome! I have over 100 or 150 of these from Wags a few weeks ago. I have some more q's to use now.

    My son will be thrilled - I was running out of Mentos from the last sale but was able to get some of the mint flavored ice breakers gum at cvs the other day for .13 a pack. Now I can really stock up - I think I have @ 40 papers so that would give me 80 q's LOL

    Here is I handle the situation at the checkout …

    Before I enter the checkout lane I have my items, coupons and money r-e-a-d-y.

    It will not be ME slowing up the process.

    +

    I also look forward (towards the cashier), waiting for the cashier to do their thing.

    I say not one word to the customer behind me, unless spoken to since I have learned in my 100+ plus years of couponing that anything that you say during the waiting process will be taken incorrectly.

    • I do not apologize, etc since they have gotten in line behind m-o-i.
    • I do not suggest that I will be at the checkout for a prolonged period of time.
    • I do not suggest that they try another checkout line.

    I used the term ‘having kittens,’ when the customer behind me starts huffing and puffing, etc.

    It is their problem and not mine.

    I ignore them, not even giving them the time of day.

    In fact, if they are not careful, they might learn something (about savvy shopping) during their ‘wait.’

    What drives me absolutely nuts is when a customer will wait to the very last minute to whip out their checkbook and when they do, they have not bothered to fill anything out.

    I agree with everthing Terry said! But I still prefer self check out @ Giant Eagle! If a q beeps then a person comes over and I politely ask them to please scan the rest of my Q's as well so they wont have to come back again!

    Well, of course I had everything ready! Q's in hand with money because when I shop 9/10x I only carry my baby, my keys, my Q's, and my card (no purse or anything else.

    The gentleman immediately behind me was very sweet as we both approached the checkout at the same time, each of us insisting the other go first. I finally allowed him to be chivalrous and went ahead.

    Although I too believe I have the right to be in line and Q's not scanning are not my fault per se, I only apologize out of politeness. And in this instance I made a simple humorous comment that I should have known it wouldn't be as easy as scan, scan, scan, pay, go. It sparked comments with the others in line and actually made the wait a bit more bearable.

    I definitely have a different perspective on the best way to handle the situation and it does work for me. Of course holding my DS who is such a ham with people makes it much easier!!!
