What GE store do you shop?
I hope this wasn't discussed before and I missed it. I just got back from Giant Eagle. My store is a corporate store and has always taken internet printables. Today when I checked out the cashier took my two IP's but told me they will not be taking them any more. She said they received an email from corporate and are not to take them. Apparently they have gotten stuck with too many fraudulent coupons.
It's so annoying that some people abuse the system and the rest of us suffer for it. ARGHH!!!

This was at the Giant Eagle in North Huntingdon, PA. I specifically asked them if it was an issue at this store only and they said no that they had received a memo from corporate.
This was bothering me so I decided to call the store myself and ask a manager about this. I went to the Giant Eagle website and there was no mention of the policy changing. The person I spoke with talked to the store manager. She said that IP's are at the discretion of the individual store as to whether or not they accept them. As of now, they are still taking them but will not take BOGO IP's or anything over $3.00.
They asked me for the name of the cashier and I gave them the name on the receipt. I guess she didn't know what she was talking about. The strange thing was the person shopping behind me was another GE cashier. She also acknowledged this memo.
Anyways, sorry for the false alarm. Is there anyway to delete this thread?
I say leave the thread - it is just another example of how important it is to speak to management/corporate when issues arise. Cashiers, although (hopefully) well meaning, do not always know the policies and procedures of their store and mis-informing the customer of potential changes is an issue because it could change our shopping habits. A few months ago I would have just stopped bringing IPQ's instead of speaking with mngt first. I would have assumed the associate was trained properly....Now I know better, thank goodness, and I won't waste my hard earned money on a false statement like this one. Thank you for the follow-up!!
Good point. The thing that threw me was the fact that two cashiers were mis-informed.
From working in retail - rumors don't take long to get around a store LOL One person says they saw a 'memo' or heard about a 'memo' or wished there was a 'memo' and next thing you know it's corporate policy to never take IPs and everyone must wear polka dots on tuesdays LOL
Glad they were misinformed though - I'd hate to go up there and not know about a policy change. Oh and VegasGal - did you see there's another Walgreens going in up there across the street!! How exciting!
Did the Walgreen's open in Greensburg yet?
It seems like they've been working on the Walgreen's site in North Huntingdon forever. I'm thrilled though that it's coming. It's only a mile from my home. I've also heard rumors for years that Applebee's is going in there too.
My GEs stopped taking IPs for about 2-3 months, but are now accepting them again. I think it was the VrlMktg (?) scare that caused them to stop taking them. Much to our relief, they are taking them again.

My sister works at GE in North Huntingdon. I also sell Avon to a bunch of
people there. I will try and find out if any of them has heard anything.
Sure hope it was mis-information, if not I won't be shopping there anymore;( I have enough hassle with Rite-Aid.
