QUESTION Can anyone help with suggestions?

I am in Virginia Beach and do not have a Giant Eagle, and I know nothing about their policy and prices except what I can find here. ( or if there are other stores?)

I am trying to help a friend with 4 kids and a foster child learn to shop using coupons. I would like to set her up with an envelope of printables and coupons with a list of what to do. She is located in Cranberry Township near Pittsburgh.

    Walmart
I am sending her the 1.50 and $2 meat wyb 2 kraft

    Target
    75/2 kraft easy mac bowls
    b2g1 free Easy mac bowls
1/2 target printable for the easy mac bowls

What other screaming deals should I send her?

I am hoping for some experts in this area to help me out with what and where would be an everyday good or great deal in your area. She has no kids under 8.

You guys are awesome and I have learned so much I know I can count on you to help with your ideas and suggestions.

You can view your friends Giant Eagle ad by going to their website and entering her zip code. You can then see what is on sale and send her the coupons for the products. The store double coupons up to and including 99 cents. If the coupon states "do not double" they will not double it. Sometimes the cashier does not look closely. The Giant Eagle sales run Thursday thru Wednesday.

Giant Eagle prices are a bit high. I usually stick to what is on sale and what I have coupons for. Hope that helps!

Have her buy at least 2 Pittsburgh Post Gazettes so that when items go on sale Buy One Get One Free, she will have 2 Qs to use (assuming her store allows this). She will also need some sort of holder to keep them all.
This might be basic, but did she get a Giant Eagle Advantage card?
There is also a link in the food perks program thread for a bonus 5% off of her order if she watches a 3 minute video and enters her advantage card number.
If she gets gas at Giant Eagle and scans her advantage card, she will earn an extra 1% off of her groceries for every 10 gallons of gas pumped.
If she has the ability, get her on this website and the sales are listed out for her - and exactly what Qs to use. Before you know it, she will come up with some tricks of her own!

-Oh, and I agree with Booklvr - Giant Eagle prices are a bit high. I only go there for sale items.

I think she has a kuhns in cranberry and they sometimes have some great sales. I know starting Wednesday, they have the frozen boneless chicken breast on sale for 3.99 for a 3 pound bag. I am going to stock up on that.

    I agree with everyone's suggestions :-)

If she's serious about starting to stockpile, Giant Eagle is a great store to do it at LOL It's definitely a 'shop by the sales' type of store - you only get what's on sale and has a coupon to go along with it. And you buy alot of what's on sale to last you to the next one (I think it's about every 3 months for most items - some are every month it seems)

Go to the website on Tuesday (usually after noon) and get the ad for her area, and then sit down and pull coupons for what's in the flyer.

And invite her to join in the fun here on the board - we'll be happy to help!

Hopefully, you'll be able to see what the deals are for next week - the ad starts on Thursday and ends on Wednesday. A few of our posters are fortunate enough and gracious enough to get the ad on Mondays and post the information for us.

Those Kraft q's might serve her better at a Walmart that sells meat. They have the Kraft dressings for $1.58 ea and if she uses 2 of the $1.50/1 q's there, she'll get $2 worth of meat and 2 bottles of dressing (perfect for marinating the meat) for .18 total! (I'm hoping those Kraft meat q's make their way up here at some point - I have my friend in the Richmond area looking for them for me LOL)

Definitely get your friend to come here if she can - this way, if she doesn't understand a deal, one of us can help her. The ad for the week starting on Thursday is usually posted no later than Tuesday afternoon (Monday if the lucky ones get it early LOL). This will give you time to look at the deals (cause someone will always look at the ad and find something that's really a great deal but didn't look promising).

Your friend will definitely have to get at least 2 newspapers and, she may be able to get more at her church (friends of mine have told me that a lot of church members drop their extra coupons there).

Unfortunately, we don't get the red plums anymore in our papers (the Washington Observer-Reporter does but, I don't think they carry it that far away from Washington County) and the Tribune Review doesn't always get all the coupons so her best bet is the Post-Gazette.

That is so nice of you.

Tell her that papers are cheapest if she goes to Kuhns on a Sat afternoon or Sunday morning and spends around $20. Then the papers are .75c., helpful if she needs more inserts.

Also, there is a CVC on Freedom Rd, and a Walgreens, along with 3 RiteAids. She should really only start with maybe Giant Eage and Kuhns, till she "graduates".Then tell her there is a Shop n Save in Zelie, which depending on which side of the highway she is on, her kids maybe in a school near that store. There is even a forum on here for that store!!!

These people on this Giant Eage forum are AMAZING!!!! I used to think I was a good q shopper.....The Kuhns forum is helpful, but there sales are a little less regular. Often a good week, then nothing for a few weeks.

That is nice of you to help her.

Also, Target on 228 will not accept printables. They usually take their own website printables when I print them at the store, but will not take them from the internet....
(Or you should call that store before sending her.) I have been told that for years.
