Is the doubling only with a GE card something new? My line was held up the other day because the person had to go get a temp card and the cashier said that they had to in order to double their coupons.

I know my store won't accept IP frees - they never have. I'm wondering if I'll be able to use any of the free pepsi 12 pk q's (buy 2, get 1 free) since the value will be over $3 and it's a free
No, it's been that way for at least a couple years. I've had my jedi cashier grab and scan a coupon before my card a time or two during small multiple transaction runs, it doesn't double. You have to scan the card, void the coupon, then rescan the coupon so it will double.
I respectfully disagree ...

Similar to CVS, if you scan an item before presenting your loyalty card, sale items will not register at sale prices.
Once you do scan your loyalty card, the register's logic then does some calculations and reduces the price to the sale price and it does then double all 'doublable' coupons in that thar transation.
I have witnessed a whole slew of previously scanned coupons double after the Giant Eagle Advantage loyalty card was then scanned.

So the register's logic is something like ...
If loyalty card is not the first item scanner (and it is then later scanned) ...
Go back to the first item scanned and then, item by item, check to see if the item is on sale or a coupon that should be doubled.

FYI, new coupon policy in effect at Monroeville PA. The Pepsi B2G1 was rejected because it was over $3. I wasn't in a mood to fight, so I just left, but the policy certain isn't going to stop from creating a big scene every time I shop! (And maybe a call or 2 to corporate)
I understand why they did it, but if its a coupons.com printable it should be an exception. I have about 15 of the Purina IPs left, so I guess I'll just be going to Target and Walmart instead.
So far, thankfully, this doesn't seem to in use at the University Town Center GE in Morgantown, WV. I was able to use the $5 Huggies Gentle Care IP today for the wipes (brought them down to .99.) They also took my buy 2 12pk Pepsi get one free coupon.
I will really hate the day that they do decide to implement this policy.![]()
FYI, Streetsboro GE cashier wouldn't take my friends diet pepsi B2G1 IP coupon today--claimed IPs were turning into fraud issues--but one in Canton took mine yesterday. Is this a store-by-store policy?
