    QUESTION Rain Check Question-Giant Eagle

I went to customer service today to get a rain check for an item, but they told me they don't give rain checks for items unless they are listed in the sales flier. Have you ever heard of that before?

    Thanks!

Yes, that is standard operating procedure. It is due to the fact the money being "lost" on sale items vs extended price reduction items comes from different people (ie EPR stuff is typically to get rid of excess stock of certain items).

Yep, pretty much all store are like that. Actually, I thought the whole purpose of a rain check in the first place was to make up for not having item(s) from the ad in stock. If they advertise something really cheap, then only have a few of them, and offer no substitute or rain check, it's a bait and switch. If an EPR is to get rid of excess stock, why are they chain wide? Surely not all stores have excess of the same items.
