SCO vs cashier - how do you decide

How do you decide if you're going to go SCO, or a cashier's lane?

1) Always SCO, to keep an eye on the totals / make sure coupons scan
2) SCO even if the number of like coupons makes a SCO person constantly have to come over?

Of course there are lots of scenarios, can you tell us how you choose what you do?

I usually hit the cashiers if I have an easy run, but with lots of multiple coupons (since the sco's beep over 2 like, or 2$ and more) as long as there's a nice cashier working. There's only a couple at my store that I avoid LOL Or if I go hogwild and have a huge transaction.

SCOs are great when I have tons of little transactions, little or no high value coupons - runs that are easy for the cashier to come over and maybe enter one or two coupons at the end...and the regular lanes are busy. I hate holding up the lines with tons of little transactions. Oh - and sometimes if I have DND-5 coupons that I need to double and the cashier selection is iffy - just to be sure they get doubled.

But anymore it seems like most of the cashiers know me, and know that I usually do multiple transactions, and are cool with it. I know I'm not the only crazy coupon lady who shops there, so I think they must be used to us LOL I just try to go when it's not busy, have someone watch the kids, and that way I have everything planned and divided nicely in the cart so it's super easy to load the belt with all the transactions and let the cashier handle the rest.

There are 2 super-nice female cashiers at my main GE, who've come to know me, so I always go to them if they are working. There are also lots of young female cashiers who don't give me problems with coupons.

So generally, I go to the cashiers, since I get tired of having to wait for an employee come to scan my multiple coupons at the SCO's.

I usually have the kids with me when I shop so I do the SCO and do maybe 3 or 4 transactions tops. If I go to a cashier they are all cute and talkative and distract me and the cashier and I've forgotten to hand certain q's or done things in the wrong order. I try to pick a sco that is close to the sco supervisor stand so I don't have to wait for them to come over. I would much rather have to have someone scan their card for my multiple q's than deal with an iffy cashier.

The 'attitude factor' ...

SCOs do not come with an attitude.

When I shop, I do not need the attitude.

Also, I know what I want and I know how much the total should be (ballpark figure) after coupons.

SCOs do not ask me if I want to make a donation (a pet peeve avec moi).

I donate on my terms, when I am ready to donate.
