    FYI Columbus: FoodPerks

I saw a story on the news this morning about FoodPerks at Giant Eagle starting today. I just called my store to find out what it is.

The FuelPerks are still the same. FoodPerks are now (EDIT: changed the following after I read this week's ad ) a way to get rewards toward grocery purchases when you purchase gas.

When I saw the story I thought they meant that they were taking away the double fuelperks or something. But I called the store to verify before starting that nasty rumor --glad I did!

It's a great deal! Kind of like double dipping! I work for GE, (new store on Hamilton Rd! ) so as an employee I've been getting foodperks for a few weeks! :)
But your fuelperks stay the same, 20 cents per 50, and you get 1% foodperks per 10 gallons of gas you buy! Our system keeps track just like the fuelperks does! And it adds up like fuelperks too! So every gallon counts even when not buying a full gallon!

I have 9% already! Totally saving up for Thanksgiving!!
    :)

OH! And Columbus is the test market...so if it goes well here, others might get it later! SWEEEEET!

Sounds like a winner to me...But, the only problem for me is, they always base the total price after Q's, so it would take awhile for me to see alot of savings.
Guess I gotta have that "every penny counts" attitude....

I figure it will take me 3 months to gather enough actual money spent to make it worthwhile. It's a nice incentive, but I'm not sure it will benefit us in the longrun. Now if I didn't use coupons... ack!... nightmare!... but if I didn't, then I'm sure it would sound AWESOME.

    Hi Incognito--

I go to the new Groveport Hamilton Rd. store.

Anyway, I like this double-dip opportunity! Especially since it doesn't take any extra work to keep track of it--just get gas and gain a few cents toward groceries each time. Love it!

hmmm, I was at the sco today and he had to come over to over-ride my q's (I had more than 2 like q's) - I noticed on the touch screen that there was a "foodperks" button - maybe it's coming to PA?

I think this is great. I have two big SUV's so I fill up a lot of gallons of gas. So hopfully I will get a nice % off my grocery bill. I love fuelperks - my dh just filled up one SUV for $6 - so foodperks is even better.

I just got a flyer about this yesterday. Seems like a great idea to me! Might actually draw me back to shopping at GE!

They also limit it so you can only redeem 20% off with your foodperks so you don't end up getting a cart full of free groceries, unlike the fuel perks that have no limits to them making it possible to get a free 30 gallon tank of gas.

This also works in the pharmacy if you are NOT using insurance.

I am not sure if the foodperk discount applies to gift cards though.
