Thanks goes out to whoever in Frederick, Maryland who has been hitting the stores (Giant Eagle and Weis) with fraudelent printable coupons.

Both stores have now banned internet coupons and I am in disbelief. They said they have had stacks and stacks of coupons that were being copied. Can you believe it?!

I would never even think about doing this. I thought about this for a while and wondered if maybe they ordered these online and the person selling them did it, but it doesnt matter, its still a chance you take and when one person does it we all get hosed.

My only hope is that this person did not hit all the stores with these bogus coupons...and I hope you are reading this...shame on you.

I understand your frustration; I would be as well. But HCW is not the only trading board/group so it could easily be someone from another board or not even on a board at all. Hopefully, it is not a member here.

I know it could be someone from anywhere. I just had to vent. I prob should have kept it to myself. Its just upsetting when you have a folder with IP's and no where to use them but WM.

My store is only banning vyrlmktg IPs - they are still taking them from coupons.com, smartsource, etc.

Yes, I had trouble a while back when the Vlasic pickle coupon came out. The manager at the Patrick Street location said that they don't take IP's at all. The 7th Street store has taken my Gold Medal flour IP's, but I only had 6 of them, and they got to me on different days, so I didn't inundate them. No one mentioned that they didn't take them there, but maybe I will now encounter problems with them when I try to redeem my rain check.

I didn't know about Weis. I hardly ever shop there, unless there is an awesome sale.

Oh no, I was not implying that you should not have said anything just that there is no way to know for sure. I would like to think it would not be anyone here but even if it wasn't your post was a reminder for all to play by the rules.

I share the OP's frustration with the couponers who take advantage of stores with fraudulent IPs. There is no other reason but greed. I always try to fly below the radar and only use one or two IP's. Thus far, I haven't been refused.

I have had several new cashiers question their front-end supervisors regarding my IPs. The supes. always tell them that they are fine but should not be doubled. I also use only coupons.com, smartsource and bricks coupons for GE purchases. I have even stopped using legitimate pdf coupons. I have to believe that printing these coupons tens or hundreds of times is not what the manufacturers had in mind when they released them. The vyrlmktg scam hit the legitimate IP's very hard. It will probably take 6 scam-free months before cashiers and stores quit suspecting all IP's.
I'm very sorry for the OP, it almost takes the fun out of coupon shopping when limits are placed on the ethical "treasure hunt."

I'm not the one who did it but I'm still sorry for the OP. I have been feeling rather apprehensive lately when using IP's at stores (GE and other) because I am almost waiting for the day when they say they don't take them anymore.

There was a thread on another site that was devoted to "how they can catch you" and someone was saying how her sister who'd just started couponing was printing out pages of IP's and then scanning them in and copying (like after bricks said you had reached your limit).

There's a difference between saving money and cheating the system so that's it's ruined for the rest of us. There really is.

Its sites like those that should be banned! Sheesh! They give couponers a bad reputation. I guess deep down I knew it wasnt any one from HCW cause we are all saints lol...
