NEWBIE Help a Newbie Out?

Hi Ladies!

I just registered for this forum after I found it last night and was amazed by everything you do... I have been CVSing for about a month and I recently started checking out the deals at GE because of the***********.com. I have always tried to save money on our groceries and household stuff but I didn't realize coupons were actually helpful! But now I have seen the light and I started a Q organizer and started my stash about a month ago.. I have a few questions that I thought you experienced ladies could help me with!!!

1. I understand that Catalinas are the coupons that print from the machines.. are the catalina deals advertised so I know how to get them?

2. I live in NE Ohio, Massillon/Canton area and I did see in GE a big sign saying they double coupons up to .99. Does that mean if I have a Q for .99 it will be worth 1.98? or does that mean the max amount they will take off is .99? Just trying to figure out the best deals for me...

3. Could you tell me what some of the abbreviations mean, or point me to a thread that already has them? I can't remember what they are now but I saw a few in your posts in relation to GE that I had no idea what they meant... not trying to take all your deal ideas but it is so helpful to me to see what you ladies are able to do with a little planning and some coupons!!

Thanks so much!
Amanda

Hi! And welcome

Some catalinas are advertised-and some of those are tricky so watch the threads here(some are calculated buy original price not the sale price.)
Some are surprise and we will post those in the catalina thread. Like for instance every once in a while there will be a .50 oyno (off your next order) from friskies.
There are also the kind that have a Catalina announcement. They are slips of paper you get from the catalina machine when you buy a similar item telling you the details.

If the sign says double up to 99 that will get you $1.98 off.

As far as the abbreviations -I thought there was a thread in the newbies forum.

Hello! and im pretty sure i know what site ya talking about teehee
Im less then an hour away from ya! :)

congratz on climbing onto the coupon wagon!

1. I understand that Catalinas are the coupons that print from the machines.. are the catalina deals advertised so I know how to get them?
Many of us see them in the weeks ad, like this week is filled with some good ones!
another way is when we cash out sometimes we get a slip out of the machine telling us of a upcoming deal and when that happens some nice people share it on here to let everyone know :)

2. I live in NE Ohio, Massillon/Canton area and I did see in GE a big sign saying they double coupons up to .99. Does that mean if I have a Q for .99 it will be worth 1.98? or does that mean the max amount they will take off is .99? Just trying to figure out the best deals for me...
Yes thats true. the normal coupon is .75cents so if you use it, it will double to 1.50
I've seen .80cents off but im jumping for joy if i see anyone higher then that thats under a 1.00 lol

There are some members here that has a store that doubles up to 1.00 so remember do not be confused if you see something like that lol

I can try my best. im sure there is a thread about it..never looked myself :)

BOGO= Buy one get one free

ONYO= on your next order

YMMV=your milage may very..meaning some stores might some stores might not

DND=do not double

on this forum some people may type DH DD or DS= Dearhubbie Dear daughter, Dearson (mentioning this because it took a while to learn that one lol)

cat=catalina coupon not a furry lil creature lol

csm= customer service manager

SCO= Self check out register

Yep, lots of friendly, helping people in this forum - it's my favorite forum.

Ask any question you want of us - someone will probably be able to help you.

FYI - this weekend's coupon inserts will have coupons (or q's) for a lot of the items in the unilever buy $15 get $5 oyno - so, if you don't have coupons from the 5/18 inserts, wait until the Sunday inserts come out to really get a rush with these cat deals LOL. The $5 you get for your next order can generally be used to pay fo another of the same deal - making it even better - and, you get a $5 cat for your next order.

My best suggestion to you is to read, read, and then read again LOL - it's sometimes confusing with all the deals but usually after the third read, I can usually figure it out and if not, then I just ask and someone kindly helps me out.

Welcome, Amanda! I'm also from the Canton area. I shop at the GE on the Strip, and sometimes I go to the Massillon store or the Washington Square one.

This is a great group - hope you love it here!

Hi Amanda

This website is awesome!!! I have always used coupons and saved about 20-30% of my bill, but now using the strategies on this site I have been saving at least 40-45% and sometimes as much as 60+%. I have a long way to go to get my savings percentage up higher but in the 5 months I have used this site I have been thrilled!

Welcome aboard!!!
