I showed him my receipts - and things were included on each of them that he enjoys or uses. He now goes blinkie hunting at the grocery store voluntarily, and has his own little collection of q's for things that he likes (goodies like chocolate milk and such at the grocery store). Also, he is getting hooked at CVS, and he is even starting to figure out some of his own deals that he pays for with his very own extra care bucks. (I don't roll his, so that he can spend them on something he wants weather or not it generates more bucks - and I just tell him if there is something he can do to get more "bucks" in his stash!)

Also, he is very sweet, if I tell him that I don't want a particular blinkie or peelie or whatever, he will say, well, why don't I just hang on to them until we get home, maybe one of your friends on the message board can use them.

Awwwwwww!

My husband used his first coupon this weekend at Target. We were doing some grocery shopping and he needed some cold pills, which you have to buy at the pharmacy. I gave him a $2 coupon to use, and he headed over to get the pills while I finished up the rest of the shopping. He was so excited when he came back, because the cold pills were on sale, minus the $2 coupon, making them $1.73.

He still makes fun of me for shopping a lot, but I think he really likes using that coupon. And he's also a big fan of the Target after-Christmas clearance...we go every year!

Default Does anyone else get flak from their husbands??

I get a lot of grief from my husband and I don't know why. I am not at the mall buying Coach bags at $400 a pop. Starbucks or fivebucks! I am saving the household tons of money and buying him stuff in the process. Am I unbalanced? Has CVS sucked me in that bad? Is he? It's probably the later! I love my husband so much, but he can be such a pain....oh yeah...I forget he's a guy!! They don't get us women sometimes. I think sometimes he is jealous or something that I am doing so good at saving money. Coming up in Feb. will be my one year anniversary that my friend in GA got me started couponing and saving money, finding the deals!! I used to spend at least $600 a month at Costco or Sams. Sometimes I just want to give up and say "fine...I won't do it anymore and just shop back there and waste money!" But how can I do that now that I have this knowledge??? I can't just go back. It would be insane! What do yall think? Yes, I said yall...I am from North Florida and Orlando....at least I don't say, "over yonder" anymore.

Nah - my hubby is happy I'm saving money. He even helped me sort a pile of coupons the other night.

He does like to tease me though. I load up the car with my daughter-in-law and a couple of my kids and we go grab the bargain of the day and he'll pretend like we are all insane, but he's the first one at the bag when I come home, peeking in to see the deals!

:)

This is so funny because my husband was giving me grief last night. You see, he is a fisherman for his hobby and for so long I have been a fishing widow..he is usually gone some point every night during the summer and fall..and spring. He goes to numerous Patriots football games and I basically never say no.

So, he would also go make his own fishing plugs and he would be out in the shop for hours. So don't give me grief when I am at least contributing to the family rather than losing my plugs to the seals. My daughter understands and she is 13.

Last night I got up from the computer and started to clean big time. Sorry this is all over the place..it gets me up in arms..when he wants chips, chocolate or toilet paper all he has to do it go downstairs.

I do intend to move my stuff from a small area down cellar to the back where there are much bigger shelves..maybe that will make him feel better.

Thanks for letting me get this off my chest.

My DH is very proud of me. Seeing my huge stockpile of goods helps us both feel secure if he should lose his job or get hurt and be out of work. With all that I save and stockpile, we could pretty much live off of his military retirement for quite some time if it was really necessary. (It wouldn't be fun...but it WOULD be possible!)

I remember the first time DH gave me a hard time.... over scotch tape! They were .39 at Walgreens, and I bought THREE!

He would tell me that I was buying things I didn't need. Trying to explain the logic of stockpiling to him was like explaining rock&roll to an alien.

The first time I gave his mom $30 worth of stuff she would have had to spend money on, and telling him it cost me about $3, it was like he had an epiphany!

My DH grew up in the Soviet Union when you had to stand in line for basics, and even then you had to pay half your salary for a few items. He saw my shopping habits precouponing, and he was thrilled with both the stockpile and the savings once I started couponing. He coupons with me now, and tries to covert everyone at work to couponing. He saw a Debt Diet episode one day where a woman spent thousands a month on junk and turned to me and said "Thank you for not being that kind of woman."

Make your DH watch that show when some particularly insane Coach/Prada addict is going crazy in a mall. He'll appreciate you a LOT more.
