Default What's your favorite tip?

What's your favorite tip that you've picked up for coupon shopping?

I have several so I'm going to list them off the top of my head.

Go on the last day of the sale and get a raincheck. Ask if it expires. This can be saved and used after you get more coupons from a trade

Those useless $1.50 off 3 boxes of cereal coupons can be very useful! Not as papier mache but to correct your items to coupons ratio. Unless they specify sizes, they can be used on those tiny boxes of cereal that are .50 each and get you free tiny boxes of cereal, which your kids will love. Said kids will take these to school for snack time where the other kids will be jealous and offer to trade things like donuts
^^^^
The above tip will also score you some major Cool parent points.

Unless the coupon has an item size restriction, if it says "Any Brand A" check the sample bins/trial/travel sizes. Sometimes you can score free items doing this.

So, what are your favorite tips?

Take all your coupons with you. I have only recently started doing this (duh!!). I always go through my coupons, matching them to sales/what I need , only to see a great deal at the store I didn't know about.

I LOVE doing this!!
Even when I didn't 'aggressively' coupon- I did this! I also will shop early in the week when money is tight and then go back at the end of the sale to get rainchecks and save them until a 'better' time of the month financially.

Everyone has good suggestions... I'd like to add when I first started I wouldn't hold off to see if there was a better deal, now I don't just go by my favorite product just because, I wait awhile to see if it goes on sale, then if it doesn't I can use it right before it expires, so no harm done.

And yes always take your coupons because of unadvertised deals.

Also hang onto the coupons you think you'd never use, because when that item is free or almost free you find yourself wanting to use them!

One of my favorite things to do:

I take some of the coupons that I know I won't use to the store with me and put them on/near the products they are for. Sort of the coupon fairy thing. I figure I'm just paying it forward. Most of the time someone comes along and uses them -- but sometimes I do find them still there the next time I shop. No harm done though -- I wasn't going to use them anyhow.

Errrr that would be me LOL
I like doing that, too, especially with diaper coupons.

Jamie ~ I wait, too. I see shoppers sometimes, grabbing up "deals" and I find myself thinking "I can do better than THAT...."

Now, the 3 tips I posted above are things I picked up here on HCW from other members.

hold on to those, at least a few. Last year at Walgreens I was getting 3 boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch Free with each coupon I had.

They had the reduced sugar 10 oz boxes first at $1.00, then dropped to .50¢, so free with the $1.50/3 coupon

My favorite tip is passing along helpful information to my fellow shoppers!
