I do the same thing and it works great for me too. I started by doing the note book but too much writing. This way I'm just circling the item and go into my coupons and if i have one for it I add the dollar amount off that it is. It's nice this way because you can see the product and most important for me is the exact size that the deal is on. I have envies for each store so I carry the coupons along w/the flier.

I haven't found the right way to keep myself organized, yet.
I'm a generally disorganized person (too much going on, and I get impatient too, HAHA).
The Post-it method works, though. I always have a running list of things that I would like to look out for (despite sale/no sale coupon/no coupon, etc). This also helps me stay on track and not buy things I don't need just because I see it in an ad.
Next I go through my ads and if I find something I need/want, I use a smaller post it and flag it. Then I go through my coupons, and pull out the ones that are the best deal for that item, etc. and TADA! i'm saving tons of money!

I hate to throw ANYTHING away.. so I take all of the empty envelopes from cc offers and bills that I pay online. On the back of the envelope I write the name of the store, what I plan on buying, the price & if I have a coupon + the value of the coupon. I cross it off as I go (if I can find my pen!) Also, I use an empty envelope for coupons I end up not using for any reason that day. I find it easier to put them in the empty envelope than trying to file them away in my orginaizer in the store with my dear little children helping me. I do carry the ad with me on my trip. If the store has flyers at the door I take a fresh flyer with me, since mine is usually frazzled from me studing it. Remember to take your flyer with you when you leave, you might want to look it over again later. Even a week or 2 later! My system isn't too advanced, but it is easy and my kids can help me work it, so that is great!

hello, newbie here. If I understand everything correctly. You clip coupons and only use them when you see something is on special at a store? Also, people have been talking about free stuff in the mail. How do you do that?

Hi, Welcome! That is correct, you want to hold onto that coupon for a good sale unless it's something you really need right away. Try to get as many coupons as you can. Ask all your friends and family to save the inserts from newspapers for you or dumpster dive in the recycle bins if it's legal in your area. For freebies in the mail, have you checked out our freebie forum?

I use evernote. It was free to download and after the free trial expired the features I used are still accessable. You highlight the deal and right click then select to add it to evernote. I love it!

Default Re: How do you keep track of the deals?

I have four stores I concentrate on:WalMart, Walgreens, RiteAid, and Meijer. Each store has a small pencil pouch type envelope that goes in my coupon binder. In each pouch is a list with weekly deals and the appropriate coupons paper clipped to it.

I have access to tons of half sheet scrap paper. I keep it on my desk in a little basket. As the ads are posted, I go through and write down what I am buying and the scenario for pricing.
As an example,Walgreens might look like this:
6-Soft and Dri 1.29 =7.74-6X1/1=1.74
I might also denote specific fragrance or types.
I will also add products based on the deals others are posting in the store forums. I pull all coupons that I have and paperclip to the sheet and put in the pouch.
Since most ads are posted 2+weeks in advance, I take a separate sheet and write up my coupon order like this:
6x1/1 Soft and Dri 5/17 RP WAGS wk of 7/13
8xbogo Purina cat chow 5/23 SS RA wk of 7/13
etc etc
When I receive my ordered coupons or after clipping inserts that I buy on Sundays, I attach to the proper shopping list right away.
I also keep rainchecks or "overage" qs in the pouches. (Walmart pouch gets all the $3 KY coupons, etc.)
This has worked for me wonderfully, might be good for someone else too!
