I'm lucky in the respect that our dev't (condos) has recycling sheds where people put their papers. No diving through other stuff required. However, some people put their papers out first thing Mon a.m., but most, like me, let them accumulate until they have to bring them out, so I have to poke through piles two or three times a week (I go the mornings before the truck comes to get it) because I never know when things will be there. It also is a bit of a pain because I can't just clip a bunch of coups at once; I do it piecemeal because I'm not sure if I'll find another of the same insert or not. Some weeks (like this one), there's not much of anything.
I wonder if the neighbors think I'm strange for disappearing into these sheds for 10 minutes or so each several times a week!

You guys are a riot! I'm not sure I'd have the guts to dumpster dive... hell, in my neighborhood, I'd probably accidentally wake up a junkie then have to fight them for their "covers". lol Maybe I'll start small scale and grab them from all my relatives.
I found this site about a year ago but didn't become really addicted until April, by June I was dumpster diving. Last night four of us ...average age 56 hit the dumpsters. We tend to laugh the whole time and while I felt like a thief the first few times now we just say we are looking for coupons and that it's our slightly strange new hobby. Some of are friends,co-workers and family think that we are losing it....at are age being thought of as slightly nuts can be a good thing...were bad.
I did it way back in high school and got tons of nintendo games, toys, pocketbookss....all in one night. The store had a district manager coming in so instead of destroying the stuff they threw it out quickly.
I'd love to find some hook ups here in Hampton Rds to get multiple inserts!
OMG you guys - I hit the dumpster dive jackpot today for sure! There is a paper recycling dumpster near us and although I have picked stuff off the top before I never really DOVE. Well today the dumpster was nearly empty - except for the 2 unopened bundles of Sunday papers at the bottom! Today's papers! And since I already went through my paper I knew there was 4, yes, FOUR coupon inserts in the paper today. So I went home for my stepladder, and dove on in.
The haul? 30 papers! Thirty! And some had doubles of some of the coupon inserts! That's over 120 coupon inserts! The pile of them is over 6 inches high on my coffee table! WOW!
