Newbies ~ Post Your 1st Brag

Well after a week of collecting online printables, reading the blogs, watching the deals fly by, sorting, clipping and organizing my inserts from 4 papers....I finally made my first trip to the store!

Went to Albertsons, got:

3 lbs of Ribeye Steaks for $4.99/lb (they were out of the bone-in which was what I was supposed to get so they upgraded me to the boneless for the same price)
10 lbs of Boneless, skinless chicken breasts for $1.69 per lb.
6 lbs of pork chops for $1.29 per lb.
(Pretty good considering I never used to pay attention to meat prices before!)

Also got 6 Boxes of General Mills cereal for $1.50ea then used my printables for $1/2x3 making them $1 per box which isnt the BEST deal Im sure but I needed cereal and a month ago I would have paid at least twice that....

Also got Pillsbury Grand frozen biscuits (a staple in my house), which were 2/$6 then used my 2 coupons for $1 off and got a peelie on each one for my next purchase.

Got 32 oz Dukes mayo (my fav) on sale for $2.99, used store flyer coupon for $.75 off and my printable for $.55 off making it $1.69. Not the best price but considering I needed mayo and have never used a coupon on it before Im just glad to have saved a little.

Got a bottle of Organix anti breakage hair syrum Free after rebate (original price $5.99)

Got Acai Berry and Guava Vitamins Shampoo and Conditioner which was on sale BOGO which also has a $5.99 rebate making them Free

Got 6 boxes of Pillsbury Toaster Strudel for $1.50 per box then used 2 $1/1 printables and 2 $.50/2 printables making my total $1/box. Hope to get better deals on these in the future though.

Got a few other items using some printables to get me by while I build a coupon supply and watch for sales.

Then I went to CVS and got TG Lee milk for $2.79 with $1 ECB and used my $1/1 TG Lee coupon making my milk $.79 for a gallon.

Of course I didnt have the $5 off Albertsons coupon because they only went out by mail but I did get on the mailing list for future sales.

My total savings overall was $99.74 with total OOP $79.87...not bad considering I had no real cupon supply prior to this except for my internet printables from last week. Now off to see what I can do @ Publix lol.

So, I decided to take a breath and try it out today.
After a week of clipping and sorting, I took a deep breath, and my checkbook and headed to Publix.

Total Before Coupons and Special Savings :386.45
Total of Speciall Savings (Bogos & Advantage Buys): 105.58
Total of Coupons: 128.42

Total OOP: 152. 45


Could of done better, but could of done worse. But Im pretty proud of my savings :)

The Best Part: Boyfriend and I were unloading car, and then Putting everything away. He was amazed at how much I got (There were alot of 10 for $10 deals) and He asked me how much damage I did, And I was SO happy to tell him. Hes still in disbelief :). Im excited I actually made him speechless for once. Altho, I will admit, I Made a joking jab to him of "See, The money I save us is more money towards my ring from Tiffanys"


Anyways....Friday Im going to Victorias Secret with my Free $20 mall gc and a nice stack of coupons! I can wait :) I will let you all know!

I am in LOVE with this whole saving money and scouring for the good deals!

I had my first couponing trip today! A wonderful friend took me to Harris Teeter...here's what happened!

I was excited...now to figure out how to organize the coupons...

I went shopping at General Dollar. I had coupons for everything excpet a drink / snack my daughter wanted.

I saved 19.05 and spent 12.44

I went to Bi-Lo I saved 69 and some change / spent 90.05

I noticed when shopping I had coupons going everywhere, I really want to make sure I use them and was getting the correct coupon for the item. I was a little confused. I bought the bird's eye frozen vegetables. I had coupons for 1.50 off each. I loaded up. I am not sure if they was on sale or not.


I have a stockpile of 10 snuggle fabric softner. Next week I am going to Food Lion at 2 because I heard that is when they do there mark downs. I have plenty of food right now and money is tight for us and I really can not afford to spend that much every week so I may pass up some deals and hold on to my coupons because they will go on sale again.I will buy 40 of meat at Food Lion.


Or should I keep shopping? I printed coupons online and ordered from coupon clippers. I only get one Sunday paper. Any tips would be great.

Just really started about a month ago, but my really big savings was the first of this week:

18 Betty Crocker Potato Packs

After using all coupons, I was oop $3!!

I'm in my first full week of couponing~ I am proud of my 50% savings I got at Marsh grocery today. I spent $60.33 oop and had $59.56 in discounts and coupons. I had to pay full price for a few items~ and I got some "looks" from my two little girls b/c I wouldn't buy them anything without a coupon. Do you know the Dannon crush cup commercial with the boys from Zack and Cody? My 5 yr old said, "I crush you b/c you won't buy anything without a coupon!" After I paid I showed them how much we got and they were happy! : )
