It definitely depends and varies from store 2 store. My fav RA manager will write on the raincheck "honor expired coupon - product out of stock".

With so much data to read and process, I was going to skip this thread because I thought the process of a raincheck simple, but these posting have taught me that there even tricks with rainchecks.

This is good information to know, I have never stopped to get a raincheck. I have always checked back to see if the item is in and if not thought I was out of luck. Now I will make sure to get a raincheck....

I just used my first raincheck today, and was able to use new coupons with it that came out recently, so I was thankful I did get it! Every little bit, helps! Thanks so much for the info. I found it ironic I saw this thread right on top, after I just used my first raincheck! Thanks!

Always get a raincheck. Some stores state a quantity limit and an expiration date on the rain check (e.g. my Price Chopper limits you and their rain checks are good for only 10 days!). If the store still doesn't have the item in when you check back, talk with customer service or a manager. They will often rewrite the rain check or extend the expiration date. If the store doesn't have the quantity in that is stated on the rain check (e.g. the store only has in 4 but you had a limit of 10) they will almost always adjust the rain check for the quantity difference (so your new limit would be 6 in this example).

Could I try getting rainchecks during Black Friday? It seems as though I could save a killing with those, but I doubt the store rep would be in a bargaining mood

Meijers on Colerain will just about always substitute an item if they don't have the sale item you need in stock.People I know that shop at Meijer usually go there for the sale items during the week when they know the store has the stuff they want then they come back during the weekend when they know the store will be low on it or completely out and they get a raincheck so that they can get the same good sale weeks later. I thought it was dishonest to do that but they know people do it and they allow it so I guess it's okay?
