    Default Washing Lettuce

This is my first year growing leaf-lettuce. Does anyone know of a good way to wash it off without breaking the leaves? I've heard of a lettuce spinner but don't have one.

I've grown that before and it does get really buggy and gritty with dirt. A salad spinner does work but I gave mine away because it takes up so much room. What you can do is soak the leaves one at a time in a big bowl of water. You will probably have to change the water several times. Dry gently with paper towels.

I have a salad spinner and love it! I spray on some veggie wash (optional), then rinse thoroughly with water. Spin it dry and you're good to go.

The salad spinner can also be used for other leafy veggies like swiss chard.
