Woohoo... made a compost trash can

DH and I made a compost bin this weekend... I am very excited. I have already fed it stuff from making dinner, and look forward to feeding it lots, and getting the black gold from it! Hopefully it will turn out nicely. I put some straw and some leaves, and some grass that I dug up to put in some raspberry bushes, and my DH feed it with some saw dust from his workshop.

We also bought some gardening stuff from Lee Valley at a woodworking show. I can't wait til the stuff gets here... I got a compost turner, an inside compost pail, trellis netting, and a couple other little things.

DD wanted me to put the flower smily on here.. and this.. and this...

How did you make it? I have an extra plastic trash can & thats a cool idea.

We drilled holes in the extra trash can that we had. Probably about 20-25 holes, in the sides and on the bottom. Left the lid alone.

The trash can was once a recyling bin, but since we changed trash companies they gave us a recycling toter... it was a perfect opportunity to make a compost bin.
