Default 2011 - How does your garden grow?

Even though it is just January, I figure there are a few of us out there who have already started planning what we are going to be putting in our garden this year. I thought we could use this thread to post what we were going to do..then maintain it throughout the gardenening season!

I received a seed catalog at the beginning of the month. After I wiped the drool from my chin, I thought about changes I wanted to make in my garden this year.

I think I am going to try to plant more early veggies like broccoli and peas and try to start tomatoes from seed in the garage....someone posted about winter sowing and I looked it up on the internet, so I may give that a shot.

It's actually planting season already in my area - our zone never freezes, so we start seedlings late Dec/early Jan for Feb plantings.

My goal this year is to expand my abilities with vegies and herbs, not just growing the "easy" ones for my area LOL We have little space, so many things I'll just grow a plant or two as a tester, rather than to sustain our eating needs.

    Seedlings Already Sprouted:
    Butter-leaf lettuce
    Catnip
    Dill
    Marjoram

    Waiting To Spout Currently:
    More dill
    Chives
    Bell Peppers, California-variety
    Radishes

It's nice to be looking at the baby plants this time of year :)

I do winter sowing, so technically should have started already, but the holidays have been way too busy...that, and I don't have enough milk jugs. :-)

I'm doing several new things this year, including yard-long beans. We'll see how it goes.

I'm looking forward to a garden this year. My mom lives close by, and she wants to work together so we can do a bigger garden at my place. I think I might throw in some herbs this year too.

    radishes
    bell peppers
    leaf lettuce
    cucumbers
    peas
    pole beans
    squash
    pumpkins

I can't wait to get started either. I want to do cucumbers again. I did not have luck with tomatoes, so I'm going to plant them earlier. Bell peppers sprouted really late for me, like September and even with TLC, they only grew to be mini's. A few turned red too! I finally picked them mid-Dec, chopped and froze them. Not quite as tender as store bought, but I guess thats b/c they didn't fully mature. Want to do herbs, like Basil and maybe thyme. Maybe even plant lettuce and/or spinach.

Heck...completely forgot about my herb garden. DH built these awesome planters for me that I completely plant with herbs:

    Thyme
    Basil
    Oregano
    Parsley
    Sage
    Rosemary
    Peppermint
    Chocolate Mint
    Orange Mint
    Dill
    Tarragon
    Lemon basil
..and last year I tried Chamomile
