Don't do this on your flower beds-- it'll kill all of your WANTED plants, too. Just driveway cracks, patios. etc.
EASY WAY TO GET RID of WEEDS
get out that box of regular table salt. Take it
outside and pour it on the cracks or wherever those
naughty weeds or wayward grasses are raising their
ugly heads. They will die off!!

I have done this for years, only with rock salt. I always stock up at the end of winter with enough to last through spring and summer since it doesn't last too long before you have to apply it again.
The salt also keeps those nasty little slugs away.
Do you know what you started? I just came here to party!
If I did this I wouldn't have any grass left.

we pour boiling water on weeds in cracks, kills them, and no salt mess to deal with.
For weeds in your lawn, try this tip. Get a scrap peice of PVC pipe about 2-3 in diameter and about 5 inches long. Boil some water in a tea kettle and go around your lawn, setting the pipe over the weed push down hard to make good contact with the ground and then pour boiling water into the pipe.
This will kill the weed, might kill a little grass surrounding the weed but not a lot and will fill back in pretty fast. Uses no chemicals and really does kill dandilions and canadian thistle (two of the hardest weeds I have found to kill without killing your grass!)

I've got this funky weed i've never seen before my friend says its call "will not die or can not kill" guess what i've found nothing with that name he swore that is what it was truly called - it's sort of like ground cover but it's a weed- its everywhere my lawn/garden it comes up faster than I can pull it out and weed killer won't seem to touch it!!! HELP

Here's the weed killer my mom uses all the time - do not get on the grass if you want to keep it.
1 GALLON VINEGAR
1 BOX SALT
6 OR 7 DROPS DISHWASHING LIQUID
Still has the salt in it, but can be sprayed.

Does it look sort of like a fern spreading out on the ground? I have that stuff and I swear it grows like wildfire. It has a bazillion seeds underneath the fronds, so guess what, if you pull it up and don't throw it in the trash -- you just spread it to a new part of your lawn or flowerbed. :lame:Originally Posted by cutenirish
Thanks Queen I heard and have done the puring of hot water for weed killer but it does kill a lot of grass that surrounds the weeds. I will try your technique.
My kids play on the grass all the time I refuse to put anything on it other than organic crap so to speak. hahaha
This year a lot of crab grass has grown. Not only in our yard but the neighbors who have theirs treated. You know what, my grass seems to be greener than theirs right now, even though we haven't had any rain. I think the grass gets dependent on water when you treat it. Not saying that mine looks terrific but it is greener.
