Storing garden herbs
If you've enjoyed the fresh herbs in your garden all summer, it's easy to dry them for winter use. Cut the plants, either the full plant or by the stem, and trim off any wilted or dead areas. Secure the bottom stems with string and hang them upside down out of heat
and humidity. This can be done in a kitchen away from ovens and cook tops, or in a dry basement. Perennial herbs will reappear next spring, and annuals will need to be replanted after the last date of frost in your area.
