Way to go - I can't wait to hear how it goes! What are you planning on planting?
So, I wanted to do this last year but several factors interceded. Now, I'm getting my garden started and have completed phase I and II.
Phase I- order seeds (done yesterday)
Phase II- pick up fencing supplies (done today)
Phase III- assemble fence
Phase IV- pick up raised beds supplies
Phase V- build raised beds
Phase VI- insert dirt into raised beds
Phase VII- plant
Phase VIII- harvest
We're on our way!!

I'm actually going to do small amounts of several different things in the hopes that my kids might actually eat some of them if they get to see/help them grow. My youngest went NUTS last year over our one little topsy turvey tomato so I have hope!
So, for me- brussels sprouts, patty pan summer squash, herbs, asparagus, peppers
For dh (otherwise known as Mr. Fussy)- peas, beans, beets, some roasting potatoes
For the girls (otherwise known as the Fussettes)- multicolored carrots, popcorn, cucumber, cantelope, watermelon, strawberry, grapes, tomatoes
I'm definitely only planting things that at least someone likes to actually eat!

wow! roman numerals even!
all i have done so far is start some tomato plants- i have the first 26 plants potted up, and maybe 40 or so more sprouted.
and today i pulled weeds in the tomato spot for 25 minutes.
( today ONE lonely little blue ridge mountain seed sprouted- i've been waiting and WAITing, so i'm thrilled!)
That is a great plan! Do you keep a garden journal? My mom and I keep a journal and write down planting/transplant dates, how much we planted, how much we harvested, etc. It really helps us improve each year.
I'm jealous LOL. Too early yet in Illinois to start!
Phase VI- insert dirt into raised bed
what did you insert just topsoil or potting mix i really want to start raised beds garden but new with gardening
Getting ready to start mine too. Found organic corn seeds while I was in Texas this last week. Was pretty excited about that!

I'd appreciate your prayers during a very hard transition in my life. TYVVM
Had a small garden last year...tomato, peppers (all colors) yellow squash, zucchini, cucumbers and basil did well. The eggplant and pole beans, parsley and chives were a disaster! Watermelon mediocre. Hope to expand this year to have more variety.
The garden area was totally over-run with weeds and DH kept procrastinating
and I could tell he just simply didn't want to do it, so on the last two weekends I did the whole thing myself. He actually said I did a great jobit seemed to take forever, but there was not even one green
speck of weed left anywhere and I got ALL the roots out by going deep with the shovel. I'm sure there is a much better way to do this, but I only have a shovel and a hoe and I didn't want to take a chance with the hoe that I would cut off the root.
Ready to plant some seeds this weekend in egg cartons...my neighbor says that is how she does it...then wait for the excitement of sprouts!!![]()
