Starbucks Coffee Grounds, yippee!

You just go in and ask for their used coffee grounds?
I have never done it and I would just feel awkward doing so.

ask where they keep the grounds for gardens. at my stores they are in a bucket near the door-

which is near the newspaper holder.

that way if they scream WHAT?? you can just hang up the phone. no harm no foul.

but it is part of their corporate image to give them away- it's green! they brag about it in newsletters.

All of the coffee grounds we make at home go to the garden, as well as kitchen scraps (non-animal) I just dig holes in currently non-used areas...and bury. My favorite part? Sometimes we grow "mystery plants" (onions, potatoes,cabbage) from the scraps!! Check out some of the pictures on my blog!

By horrible what do you mean? What happened?

I have had no issues with coffee grounds in the garden so curious what happened to your garden when you used them.


My Starbucks has bags of the grounds in a basket near the register free for the taking.

I have discovered that the Starbucks inside grocery stores don't participate in this program, just the stand alone stores.

Coffee grounds acidify the soil, so they need to be used with/near plants that like acidity. For example, plants that like this are: evergreen trees and shrubs, tomatoes, roses, azalea.
