We moved to Georgia from Wisconsin in July. We had lots of containers we brought with us and filled them with plants and flowers to cover up our ugly deck.
We also planted a few tomatoes and a green pepper plant along the fence line, which are still producing a little much to my amazement.
Knock me over with a feather, we went to Home Depot the other day and bought a couple mums, but also pansies (tag says they will come back next spring?), flowering kale, a basil plant, and a rosemary plant. They also had tomato plants??????? What the heck, lol.
We live along the intercoastal waterway and I believe the last time snow stuck here was about 20 years ago. They get around 15-20? nights below 32, so I assume that plants will have to be covered or taken inside to survive those nights.
But as for the rest I am at a total loss. So any information you can share would be a big help.
Will the herbs keep growing here?
I have a twisted hibiscus tree. It's doing great, but up north you would have to cut this back and protect inside so it won't die. Will it die or come back next year. What about pruning it?
What should I do with the pansies?
We have Boston ferns....will they survive?
We have sun patients which have done great even in the hottest weather, still looking good but I think they are an annual?
We also have a majesty palm, which I thought was an outdoor plant but they had them inside at Home Depot. Hmmmmm. At a loss with what to do with this one.
It's really strange to be planting flowers in October, but I love it!
Any advice/help is truly appreciated.
