Default cheap fertilizer for roses, etc

Well, sort of free too. When you eat a banana, save the peels. Blend them up in a blender with water, put on roses for fertilizer. They go crazy with this! Something about nitrogen or something.
My boyfriend has been putting it on all my plants. My tomatoes are going crazy, my spider plant has tons of babies, my calla lillies are beautiful.
Every time someone eats a banana, we just put the peel in a zip lock bag. Then we blend them all together with water filled up to to about 1/2 way. Then just pour onto your plants.
Just wanted to share with you all.
Kathy

I just divide the peels into strips and place on top of the roses, too lazy to run through a blender. We get so much rain here in FL I don't need the water part. But whatever method you choose, roses do love the potassium!

They also love coffee grounds (so do other plants).

And the occasional snack of the crumbs from the bottom of the dry dog food bag.

And the crumbs from your rabbit food pellets.

OK I'll stop now!

Thanks and repped for the other info. Didn't know about the dog food or coffee. Best flower and vege garden ever! And no, my tomatoes don't taste like bananas LOL

Over to the left where your name is, at the bottom is a small white weight. Just click on it, and it will ask if you want to rep the person.
Here is a link that explains it a little better than I can LOL Frequently Asked Questions
Enjoy your garden!!
