Oh I just love gardening as means of saving money and there is nothing better than eating right from your own backyard! Here's some pics of our garden, upper deck bistro area & our friendly insects from over the years. We moved into our house in 2004 and started our garden in 2005 so we've only been doing this for three years, learning more each year. This past summer was not up to par by any means, I'm really hoping 2009 is better! Picasa Web Albums - Anne - Garden

Always ISO Jif PB & Welch's Grape Jelly My wishlist
I do, only have parsley and sweet basil in pots in the house right now since we moved recently, but I have this great 8x8 garden in the front yard that
I am going to create a massive herb garden out of. what a great thing to come home to at the end of the day I think. Oh and there is voluntary spearmint growing all along the side of my house. Nice bonus I found after we moved in :D
I started with Oregeno, Thyme, Basil, Rosemary, Chives and Cilantro. Next year I will be adding more. We have snow now, so I have some time to plan.

Thanks to the inspiration of this forum and your pics I have started a Vegetable Garden. I'm so excited. I did Amaryllis last year and did well with them so I bought some more and since they are bulbs last years produced blooms again this year. Only difference I noticed is I forced them last year indoors and they had 4 blooms per plant. This year they had 2 blooms per plant outdoors. They are so gorgeous and easy to grow. Also planted some Bouganvillas along the fence. My hope is that it will cover the whole fence with beautiful blooms.
It took 1 week to complete the process of putting together this vegetable garden. Mostly because I had to rely on others (man labor) to do the heavy and hard stuff. Since these pictures I have installed a sprinkler hose on a timer and tied tomatoes to bamboo sticks to give them support in case we have a heavy rain and support as they grow. Especially for once they have a wonderful bounty on them...lol.
:smile77: Oh I also bought a Mandevilla...it's beautiful!! I put it in a huge pot I bought at Lowe's on clearance.
:smile77: I saw yellow Hibiscus at Home Depot and plan on buying one or two but waiting on a better selection. There was only one and it wasn't in great condition but the blooms were beautiful.
I am addicted !!!! so much so I have not been keeping up with the CVS, Wags, and Publix thread. I have no clue what's going on over there....lol.
Way to go!! Love the man power you have to help out. What area are you in? I hope to do mine as soon as there's no possible risk of freezing. It's been a wierd weather year here.
