Fry's changing their E-Q policy
I just saw this on the Fry's FB page:
Dear Facebook friends,
Some of you have heard about recent changes to our coupon policy and we wanted to provide some clarification. It’s important to note that our policy isn’t changing. Instead, we are currently piloting a check-out system enhancement (which some of you may have already encountered) that will help our stores redeem digital coupons more consistently, in accordance with our coupon policy. The pilot system is meant to make the in-store experience more convenient and seamless for both our shoppers and our in-store teams.
Our policy regarding the acceptance of digital coupons remains the same:
- There is a limit of one (1) electronic or (1) paper manufacturer coupon per item.
- Digital coupons and manufacturer paper coupons may not be combined on the purchase of a single item. If a customer has loaded an electronic coupon to their loyalty card, then the electronic coupon will apply before the paper manufacturer coupon.
- If the electronic coupon and the paper manufacturer coupons are applicable to the same item, the system will give the discount based on the electronic coupon.
- Digital coupons downloaded onto a shopper’s V.I.P card are not subject to doubling.
Again, the policy has NOT changed – we’re simply working to launch a system enhancement that will ensure redemption consistency for all digital/manufacturer coupon transactions.
Because electronic coupons will deduct before paper manufacturer coupons, be sure to take the time to log in to www.frysfood.com to review your “active” Fry’s V.I.P digital coupons before heading into stores.
We hope this helps to clarify the new system enhancements. Happy saving, everyone!

Re: Fry's changing their E-Q policy
So they are not changing their policy...they are enforcing it.

Re: Fry's changing their E-Q policy
I didn't know it was against their policy to use a paper Q with an E-Q in the first place. I just thought that, since it always rang up, it was fine. I've even posted deals in this forum using both Qs together and no one has ever told me it's against policy.
I can't be the only one who didn't realize this judging by some of the FB comments.
I don't even keep track of my E-Qs. I used to, but then I had issues with some of them ringing up, so now I just see it as a bonus when they do come off my total.
If I have an E-Q for $.25 but a paper Q for $1, I'd rather use my paper Q. How is the cashier supposed to remove the E-Q so I can use my paper Q? It doesn't sound like they can, so that means we could be missing out on some deals. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't have time to load and unload E-Qs from several sites every week.
The other thing that bothers me is that they are trying to make this sound like it's helping the consumer by using terms like "convenient" and "seamless". This is neither of those things! If they were honest about it, I'd have a little more respect. I miss the good old pre-recession days when no one bothered me about coupon usage. It seems that stores are making a lot more rules about couponing now that so many people are doing it.

Re: Fry's changing their E-Q policy
I just wish I could unload my e-coupons I don't want. There are some I cannot remove...and now I'll have to wait til they expire...
