Hello & Welcome to HCW. I will use this thread to update the general membership on any new additions & to also give you a place for you to post requests to be considered.

Also, I have noticed that a lot of the smilies are not showing up in your posts. To insure they all post correctly, make sure you use a space between each one.

Starting in post #2 you will find How To User Guides, rules & some basic guidelines in regards to: Avatars, Posting Icons, Profile Pictures, Smilies & other types of graphics.

Rules Concerning Graphics

Avatars & Smilies are not only fun but can also be an extention of an individuals personality. For your convenience we strive to provide a variety of both. HCW has an extensive collection of smilies so we ask that only HCW provided smilies be used within your posts.

We do however realize that members from time to time may wish to use certain graphics of their own such as Avatars, Welcome Messages & Birthday Greetings which is fine. We do insist that the graphics used be respectful of other members. We have members who suffer from various degrees of migraine headaches & also those who suffer from seizures. So please note that fast flashing, fast moving, fast blinking or glitter graphics can not be used out of courtesy to our members. If you wish to use these types of graphics please limit them to your profile page as your profile page can be avoided where as your avatar appears with each post that you make.

If we notice avatars like those mentioned above you will be asked to change your avatar or it will be deleted. If welcome messages, birthday greetings, etc. are used like those mentioned above they will be deleted without notice.

Any other type graphic including but not limited to Welcome Messages, Birthday Greetings, etc. that you may use that is not HCW provided must be hosted on a site such as Photo Bucket, Tiny Pics or the like.
DO NOT Copy & Past graphics from other sites as it steals their bandwidth & links to or shows the link to the site it was taken from.
Bear in mind that some graphics carry spam, virus, tracking & spy ware.
All non HCW provided graphics must be family friendly

If you are unsure if your graphic meets any of these guidelines please feel free to PM me & I'll be happy to take a look at what you wish to use.

User Guide & Basic Info

Avatars

Avatars are small graphical images that you may choose in your profile. They are displayed under your username in all posts that you make. You can select the image that best describes yourself from your profile options.

The administration has provided a set of avatars for members use or you may also upload your own avatar. You must have a post count of 1 in order to select or upload an avatar.

NOTE #1: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 31.0 KB (whichever is smaller).
NOTE #2: Tyes of images that can be used: gif, jpeg, jpg, png, bmp

Choosing an Administrative provided Avatar

(1). Go to your User CP located at the top left of any page under the HCW Logo.

(2). Under Settings & Options select Edit Avatar.

(3). In the drop down menu where it says Avatar Category choose the category you wish to view.

(4). After viewing all the pages of available Avatars click on the circle of the one you like the best then go to the bottom of the page & choose Save Changes.

Uploading your own custom Avatar

(1). Go to your User CP located at the top left of any page under the HCW Logo.

(2). Select Settings & Options select Edit Avatar

(3). Go down the page until you see Custom Avatar. Click on the circle next to Use Custom Avatar.

Here you will find 2 options:

Option #1: Entering the URL of an Image from another Website

Find a Free For Use site that offers Avatars
Double click on the Avatar that you wish to use & it should open in a new window
Once the window opens go to the URL address; right click & choose copy
Go to the Option #1 area in your User CP. NOTE: before placing the URL of the image you wish to use delete the http: info that is already in the Option #1 space. Right click & select paste.
Go to the bottom & select Save Changes

Option #2: Upload Image From Your Computer

For this option you will have to have a place on your computer where you save files. I created a folder in My Documents called Debs Pics
Find a Free For Use site that offers Avatars
At some sites you will have to double click on the Avatar that you wish to use for it to open in a new window & at some sites that is not necessary. Either way you will have to right click & choose Save Picture As.
A new window will pop up. Choose the location where you created a folder to save / store your pics & save it to that folder
Go to the Option #2 area in your User CP
Click the Browse button & look for the folder you created. Open the folder & double click on the Avatar you wish to use.
Go to the bottom of the page & click Save Changes

POSTING ICONS

Post icons allow you to specify a small graphic icon to accompany your posting, which is used to convey the emotion or content of a post at a glance.

How to choose a Post / Posting Icon

There are 2 ways to add a Post Icon:

Option #1: Adding a post icon to your post in an existing thread

When you go to reply to an existing thread at the bottom of the window where you type your message you have 2 options: Post Quick Reply & Go Advanced.
Select Go Advanced

The bottom of your screen will expand & you will see various graphics to choose from to add to accompany your post.
Click the little circle beside the graphic ( Posting Icon ) you wish to use
When you are done typing your message; click Submit Reply located just below the Posting Icons.

Option #2: Adding a Post Icon when creating a new thread

Click New Topic
A window will pop up where you will create a title & type your post
At the bottom of the screen you will see various graphics to choose from to add to accompany your post.
Click the little circle beside the graphic you wish to use
When you are done typing your message click Save Changes

PROFILE PICTURES

Profile Pictures are actually the same thing as an Avatar which is a small graphical image that you may add to your profile page. To view your Profile Page at any time all you have to do is click on your User Name & choose View Public Profile. You may also view other members Profile Pages in the same manner.

NOTE #1: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 64.0 KB (whichever is smaller).
NOTE #2: Tyes of images that can be used: gif, jpeg, jpg, png, bmp

Uploading your own custom Profile Picture

Once again the steps are similar to that of the Avatar. Go to your User CP ( located at the top left of any page under the HCW Logo ). Under Your Profile select Edit Profile Picture. A new window will pop up. Here you will find 2 options:

Double click on the Graphic you wish to use & it should open in a new window
Once the window opens go to the URL address & copy

NOTE: Before placing the URL of the image you wish to use delete the info that is already in the Option #1 space.

Go to the bottom & select Save Changes

I suggest a For Trade icon for the message/title line. I have a trade folder in my pms but I still overlook a trade when it gets buried in my in box.

I have looked high & low & can not find the National Guard symbols like the other Military branches. If you know a place I can get them LMK & I will work with them to see what I can do.
