Default What's Permalink for?

Is there a way to save posts I want to remember reading somewhere? Is this what Permalink is for?

QUESTION Re: What's Permalink for?

Can someone answer this question, please. I also would like to save a certain thread. I clicked on the permalink link but I don't know what, if anything, happened.

I think what you want is to subscribe to the thread. At the top of the first post in the thread is a menu for "Thread Tools". Select "Subscribe to this Thread" off that menu. It will ask you if you want email updates when the thread is updated. Make your selection and click the OK/Subscribe/Whateveritsays button.

To go to your list of subscribed threads, go to the "Quick Links" menu at the top of the page and select "Subscribed threads".

I'm just looking to save particular posts in threads that are 300+ long. I don't want to read every one again to remember the 2 or 3 I need.

Then yes, permalink should do what you want and should follow the post should it get moved to a different thread. You click permalink. It takes you to a page with just that post. You bookmark/favorite that page.

I'm not getting what you describe. When I click Permalink, it just moves it to the top of the viewing screen, but all the other posts are still there. Any other help???:shrug7:

Default Re: What's Permalink for?

I misspoke.

When you click on the permalink, it reloads the page and jumps to the correct post. If you look in the address bar, you'll see it adds "#post1234" to the end. If you bookmark the page, then when you return to it, it'll load the whole thread but jump to the post you wanted.

If you want just the single post, without the context of the thread, then click on the post number to the left of the permalink link. That will pop up a window with just the single post in it, and you can bookmark that.
