Recreation
Make sure you check your city's summer calendar. Our city offers a ton of fun including, movies under the stars, a summer concert series and all kinds of festivals.
Kids Bowl Free- Children whose age does not exceed a limit by a participating bowling center are eligible to register for 2 free games a day, all summer long, courtesy of the particpating bowling centers along with the schools and organizations.
Free AMF bowling- Fill out this form and receive ten free games.
FREE National Park Admission-National Park Service Announces Fee-Free Weekends Across the United States. The national parks – are offering three fee-free weekends at more than 100 national parks that usually charge entrance fees.
Free weekends are:
June 20-21, 2009 (Father’s Day weekend)
July 18-19, 2009
August 15-16, 2009
Reading Programs
First, don't underestimate your local library. Every year, some of our best summer fun is at the local library where they have weekly events including: plays, magic shows, crafts and all sorts of things.
Scholastic Summer Challenge When kids log their reading minutes, they help their schools as they participate in the Read for the World Record Challenge! The Top 20 schools with the most reading minutes will appear in the "Scholastic Book of World Records" 2011 edition.
Hebuddy.com Summer Reading Club: HeBuddy.com is sending out "cool prizes" to kids that read more than 10 books this summer. Just print out the form, fill it out and then send it in.
Barnes and Noble summer reading program. Read 8 books and get a free book.
Borders summer reading program, read 10 books, get a free book.
Pottery Barn Pottery Barn holds storytime every week and when you go for your fifth time, you get a free gift.
Workshops and Camps
Michael's Craft Store is doing six different cheap or FREE "make and take" gifts June 12-19
Bass Pro Shops -- Summer activites. Go to their website to find the schedule for the Bass Pro Shops closest to you.
Apple Workshops-- Kids learn how to do cool stuff on a Mac using iLife and iWork applications.
Ages 8-12
Home Depot Workshops-- First Saturay of the month
Lowe's "Build and Grow" Workshops-- Saturdays at 10:00 a.m.
Your local A.C. Moore and Hobby Lobby also hold workshops. Check you're local store to find out what they're offering.
Special Groups
Bank of America's "On Us" program is sponsoring free admission to any customer holding a Bank of America debit or credit card on the first weekend of each month to museums all over the country.
Blue Star Museums- offering free admission to military personnel and their families from Memorial Day, May 31, 2010, through Labor Day, September 6, 2010. Find participating museums here
Target Arts + Culture Program- Target is sponsoring free and discount museum admission at museums all over the country.
