Reminder: Please Report Spam and Dead Freebies

Hey everyone I just wanted to post a quick reminder that if you see a freebie post that looks like spam (even if you are not 100% sure but have a feeling it might be spam) please click the "Report Post) icon to report the post for us and someone will remove the post as soon as humanly possible. It is also a good idea for one person to reply to the post that it is possible spam and that it has been reported to the moderators so that others are not lured into falling for the spam offer.

I just rounded up the IP addresses of our last round of freebie spammers and banned their IP addresses which accounts for 167 spammers! However it is unfortunate that they will probably come back, with new accounts, new IP addresses and start it all over sometime down the road. We rely on YOU our great HCW members to help police these junk offers by reporting the posts for us so we can get them off the site as soon as possible. We of course have a zero tolerance for spam here at HCW.

To report a post look for the report post icon that looks like this which is located on the lower left of each and every single post here at Hotcouponworld.

Thank you everyone for your help in helping us spot, get rid of and hopefully prevent some of this spam that gets through.

Giving this a BUMP, and wanting to say they usually post these things at night time when they think not alot of mods are online, so if you are on after 9pm be on the lookout for them!

Fortunatly HCW never rests and there are always thousands of folks online even in the wee hours of the night. So you guys report those spam posts and we will get rid of them as soon as we can.

I hate spam too (well at least the non-food kind!). I always report these posts - a sure tip off is a first time poster with a freebie offer. Not fail-proof, but close.

I always report spam as soon as I see it. I DO understand the difference between spam and a genuine freebie.

I just want to thank all of you mods for all the hard work. This is the best site around, I know some spam slips through...but some sites are so over run with it you can't find anything! THANKS AGAIN :)

Hi Heidi I do report all of them when I see them. Thank you for getting the message across for everyone to do this. It is very important and I thank you and Julie and all the Mods for your hard work in making HCW a great place to be. I haven't been on much just getting over being sick but will keep my eye out for more spammers. Hopefully things will calm down quickly and stay that way.

they've certainly been busy! I've only been back on the site a little over a week and the spam has been nuts! (which reminds me...time to check my junk mail account)
