Food Lion ~ Question: Will there be a clearance sale for the closing FL?

I wonder if, when time gets close, if FL will have a clearance of goods before closing. Anyone know? Got any ideas?

I would imagine so, last time a store closed here (several years ago) they had a clearance that lasted about a month - everything started at 20% off, then 30%, etc - if I remember correctly. I will say that by the time it got to 50 or 60% off everything was VERY picked over.

Also, watch the prices. They raised many prices on products over the past week. Several people were complaining about this yesterday at the store I stopped in.

had a question about the food lion closings. im no longer able to view the weekly ad for my store on the food lion website. it says it is scheduled for closure on feb 15 and new store hours are 8am-6pm. does this mean any kind of specials, such as the current food lion brand sale or weekly sales, are not valid at my store any longer?

Hmmm, good question. Since I would assume they won't be getting much new stock in, they might not honor the weekly sales. I would say either email corporate or ask the manager at the store itself.

The sales and specials (other than the xx% off storewide) were not valid at my local FL. I would guess all the stores that are closing are following the same policy, but someone at your local store could tell you for sure.

I went into one of the closing Food Lions in Chattanooga today. Everything is 25% off since last Wednesday. Don't know if maybe they'll step it up starting this Wednesday. Also, and this surprised me, they won't take any coupons. There's no produce, no meat, no dairy, no deli, no bakery products. All the magazines have been removed and the empty racks look rather odd. I rarely shopped FL anyway, so, I'm not going to miss them too much. The only thing that riles me is that WM is going to pick up a lot of FL shoppers. Oh, have I ever mentioned that I hate WalMart?
