Company Plans to Close 126 Stores; Retire Bloom Banner
Decisions Strengthen Food Lion Brand Repositioning Strategy and Bottom Dollar Food Growth in New Markets

All affected stores will close within 30 days, and store conversions will begin immediately.

Delhaize America will no longer operate the Food Lion banner in Florida, but will continue operations of its Sweetbay and Harveys banners in the state.

Wow! I checked the list and it looks like all of our local Food Lion stores are safe. These closings sure will affect a lot of people....

One store nearby will be closing, but I rarely shop there anyway.
I think a lot of folks will be unhappy about Bloom disappearing - I don't have one nearby, but they double/triple coupons and Food Lion doesn't.
Wouldn't' it be awesome if part of their plan for strengthening their brand was to begin doubling in all stores? I know they do in some trial markets.

It would be nice if they started doubling at Food Lion...I shop Bloom because of doubles and only get stuff at Food Lion when I can get an awesome deal(like the stock up sale stuff).

We were one of the trial markets for doubling and I guess it didn't work. We are losing all of our stores within about 3 counties

I'm sad to see Bloom go. I really wish they could have made a run for it. Loved their coupon policy.

I am unhappy about Bloom disappearing! But, I am less than a mile from two different Food Lions that are staying, and if they start doubling coupons I would be in heaven!

I'm going to miss those one day double events at Bloom!

We are losing all the stores near me! I rarely shop Food Lion because it's not the easiest store for me to get to.

I am extremely sad for the employees as it's going to affect alot of people in this area.

I miss having a local FL so I gladly welcome them back. Though I will miss Bloom doubles.

I wonder if FLs will now add in some doubling though?
