I am new to the forums. I am wondering if anyone else has noticed that the prices seem to be getting higher at Food Lion. I know groceries are becoming more expensive everywhere, but regardless of the changes in food prices Food Lion historically had always seemed to have the best prices. Now this no longer seems to be the case. Has anyone else noticed a change?

been noticing the prices at FL climbing for about 2 years! I barely step foot in there anymore.

I live in a semi-rural area of NC----outside of Raleigh----so unfortunately FL and small independent grocers are the only convenient choice I have. Usually the sales at the other chains aren't good enough to justify the extra gas expense of a trip to Raleigh.

On a more positive note, I will be moving to Durham in the coming months and then FL can become nothing more than a distant, unpleasant memory.

I only buy free/cheap items at FL. I can score deals much cheaper at HT, Bilo or LF.

I am guessing that you are not in the Triangle area of NC. I haven't seen a BiLo since I was in college in Greensboro. I noticed that Kroger is not on your list of places to get good deals. Is this because there is no Kroger in your area, or do you feel you do better when shopping at HT and LF?

As I posted above, I am looking forward to moving back to the city. Even though it means I will have to re-strategize, I am sure it will be well worth the effort because the availability of savings will be so much better.

I only shop FL if the deal is cheap or free. Their prices have always been the most high, sometimes at least .50-1.00 more per item where I live. But they do have some hard to find items that I will get there if that is the only place to get it, of course with a coupon.

the Food Lion here has been getting higher and higher on prices and are still the only grocery store in my area that doesn't double coupons-so unless its a great deal or free its not for me!!

Nope I'm in Hickory. We haven't had a Kroger in years. I do better shopping at stores that offer doubles everyday or HT when they have triples/super doubles. Having three stores that double everyday beats FL hands down. Besides the one closest to me doesn't compare in cleanest like the new Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter do. I literally cringe when I go in there.

FL is currently the only grocery store on the island I live on. I took a break from couponing for about 1 1/2 years, and shopped solely at Food Lion b/c it was the most convenient. I got back into couponing a couple of months ago and found that driving the extra 10 miles to HT and LF is well worth it. Their regular prices are too high for me now. My son is on a special diet b/c of his allergies and FL used to have prices that were about 50 cents cheaper per item, but now they are at the same level as the others so its not even worth it for me to go in for that anymore. I am so sad b/c this used to be my favorite store.

i only stop in food lion if they are having a super douper sale or for an item that bilo doesnt carry. They are the only store in my town that doesnt double and i always seem to have cashier problems so it takes and super deal to get me in the door these days
