To answer the question in the post title, yes. My FL does know what cs is. I feel bad that other people have such bad experiences with FL. They must me really inconsistent.
I have several stores, and they are all fine. But the one closest to me is awesome!
The management and employees are so friendly and helpful and the store is clean and spacious.
Sometimes I feel bad that I'm not shopping FL more. They are so nice I wish they had better deals. But the deals just aren't usually there like they used to be (In the days of the awesome FLIPs)
But I have been in places that fit your description - if that was my choice, I'm sure I wouldn't shop there.

Our FL is about about 5 miles from our house. The only other grocery store is a Wal-mart (20 mins). We love our FL. Always clean, friendly, hubby is friends with the butcher and always gets us custom cut steaks (when on sale). We do not have any self check outs, but that is all good. I honestly cannot complain about our FL in the least!

No bag boys,no smiles, and if you actually want someone at customer service for help, well good luck as they are not to be found. The parking lot was pretty deserted, its that way most of the time and I can understand why. On one trip I needed to use the handicap rest room, waited and out walks the girl that worked c/s that day. I told her she shouldn't use the handicap stall but leave it for those of us that need it,she shrugged her shoulders and said "I use it all the time its more comfortable"!*IMO, those stall are there to be handicap ACCESSIBLE, not handicap EXCLUSIVE* I spent less than $10 today, just went after a few sale items and it use to be my main store for grocery shopping. If they don't wise up the parking lot will be a lot emptier than it was this morning. AND I feel like if I have to use *technically, you don't HAVE to use it* the self checkout I should get a discount as I'm taking the place of a much needed cashier. I don't feel that way at other stores that I have the option of using it or going to one of the MANY cashiers they have working. I'm not the only one complaining either.
OK, I can relate to the frustration of long lines because of few cashiers available, but I try to remind myself that they probably schedule based on trends they see in their sales reports and occasionally they are going to have busy spells during typically slow times.

The handicap thing, though... I'm amazed to see someone be angry about that! I never, ever thought anyone believed handicap stalls were there ONLY for handicap patrons. Interesting.

When/if you ever get to the point you NEED a handicap stall you will understand. There are four stalls, only one handicap, all the others were empty BUT the employees use the handicap stall because its more "comfortable",I run into this often. Its a matter of common sense! I never use to use them unless they were the only one available.I'm not that angry about the toilet I don't use it every time, its just everything plus the green meat in the meat counters and the past dated foods I also find along with poor c/s I get upset about!!!!!!

In reference to the meat, I find Food Lion's meat to be better than Walmart and Kroger. I have never had a bad meat experience there.

It was like being in a HT instead! Immaculate, friendly staff, well stocked and everything

Too bad it's not one of the dozen within a 5 mile radius of me - they seem to have the most stores of all the chains and yet ... they have the least business of the other chain stores in my area.

Yup, cleanliness, friendliness and consistency in CS does make a difference!

I hope you are talking about my store! I work at FL in King on 66... I hate going into other FL's b/c you're right the CS stinks! I called 1 FL just around the cornor from me and talked to the CS manager about the poor service of course not telling her I worked in her district and she actually hung up on me... I was floored! I reported her to our district manager and she was fired... LoL Apparently that was the last straw for her...
