Food Lion ~ Other: Food Lion Doubling Coupons in Atlanta Region

I'm surprised that I don't see a thread here about this. Food Lion is changing their coupon policy--it's starting in the Atlanta region, but I bet it will be chain-wide once they see the delightful results. I'm definitely going to become a frequent Food Lion shopper because of these new rules, and I had very rarely gone there before.

The new rules for the Atlanta region: (Call your store to see if they are part of the test market.)

1. B1G1 ring up half price
2. Double coupons 60¢ or less
3. Accept any competitor coupon
4. Will match any grocery store advertised price

I will have very little reason to go to other stores. I read a rumor that they will no longer let you stack coupons, so that would be one reason to go elsewhere (Publix!), and I doubt they will or can match catalina deals.

This is VERY good news for those of us in the Atlanta region, but I bet it will end up being good news for everybody who has a Food Lion.

Thanks for the info...hope this comes to VA. The only thing that I'm concerned about is them raising their prices in order to absorb the loss of doubling coupons and accepting competitor coupons. I like Food Lion even without doubles. Their base prices are lower for the things I buy and don't normally have coupons for. Doubles would mean that I'd have little reason to go to Kroger any longer, but only if FL doesn't raise their own prices to match Kroger's.

Yes, this is great news! I hope the cashiers have been trained on how to do the Price matching. Food Lion is on my way home from work and I would much rather stop there than drive past my house to go to Publix. I will check them out today and see how they will match Publix ad. I'm interested to see how they will handle matching Publix BOGO items.

The grocery market is highly competitive lately due to the economy and people looking to save money.

FL has such a huge presence (locations galore) in many areas, Raleigh NC included, more than any other chain yet they are never busy like Harris Teeter, Lowes and Kroger and it's because of coupons as well as customer service, in my opinion anyway.

Maybe they're about to get in the game and give the other stores a run for the money! Since they own Bloom and Bloom doubles, I was hoping they would see the wisdom of including the FL stores too.

Please, oh please let TN do it where I live and other places. That would make Kroger have a competitor for doulbes. I am praying this happens.

This would be nice but I'm not getting my hopes up for having this in my area. LF has recently had some triple events trying to compete with HT but they didn't offer this in my area. If you live in a high traffic area you might get lucky.
