anyone?
I am going there in May for a week. I know we need to grocery shop so i was wondering if someone can give me a lowdown on Foodlion or any other stores around? (not walmart, actual grocery stores like Kroger or (is there a Harris teeter?)
i'm sure foodlion takes q's. But is it like Kroger and it depends on the area your in on how their policy is? Does anyone shop at the Foodlion 3min from Holden Beach? It's across the parking lot from that brand new huge walgreens?
Anyhelp will be apperciated and repped!![]()
anyone?
Manders I don't live near Holden Beach but I do shop at FL here in NC. They do not double so your best bet is to check the forum to see what they have on sell the week you will be there. Have fun!
I had sanity once upon a time I promise. It was just so long agoooo that I can't remember it
.
Hey Manders! My family used to go to Holden Beach for vacation. I now live just north of Wilmington. Anyways, your best bet for shopping at FL is to check to see what FLIPs are available. The FLIPs are only good for 2 weeks, so you won't know what will be available till you are down there really. If you don't have a printer with you then they won't help much.
I know there is a Lowes Foods in Shallotte which is right up the road, and they do double Qs. They sometimes have better deals than the FL. Check out that forum to see what kind of stuff they have going on since it has been 5 months since I lived near one :(
Food Lion's policy is pretty much the same across the board. I never had any problems using Qs at the FL in Holden right across the bridge. I even had a cashier convince me to buy something extra because it was a better deal with the coupons she had at the register (and it was).
Have fun on your trip! Holden is a beautiful beach and still our family's favorite.
PS. I know there is someone in this forum that is from Shallotte. But I was absent for a while so I forget who it was. (Sorry!)

You can't miss Shallotte. I think you HAVE to drive through it to get to Holden Beach. It is like 5-6 miles from Holden I think.
I have been to Calabash a few times. That is where the boys get there little charter boat to go deep sea fishing. You are thinking of Saint Nick Nack's. We always stop in there whenever we go because what is a beach vacation with out stopping in all the cheesy gift shop stores :)
Also wanted to add that the Food Lion in Holden was a blessing because before it was there we had to drive all the way to Shallotte to get groceries which sucks when you only need one thing.

I live in Ocean Isle Beach. Shallotte has Food Lion, Lowes Foods, Hills, and Wal-Mart. There isn't a Harris Teeter or Kroger between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach, much to my unhappiness. I live within a minute or two of the new Lowes Foods in Ocean Isle, so I shop that store now. Lowes offers a shopping service where they'll have your groceries waiting for you, but if you go to the Lowes in Shallotte, I would think you wouldn't have much of a problem, crowd-wise.
The store in Calabash that was mentioned in Calahan's Nautical Gifts. Great store, you could get lost for hours, but I'm partial to the one on Sunset Beach my family has owned almost 20 years :-).
Let me know if I can answer any questions about the area, happy to help.

I live in Myrtle Beach and often head toward NC when I get NWPR coupons good for NC. There is a FoodLion right across the SC/NC line on Hwy 17 that is EXTREMELY coupon unfriendly. They never take my coupons there and I refuse to EVER stop there again. I will drive an extra 10 miles to get into Shallotte to visit the Lowes there.
ISO nwpn winetags for SC & BTFE I have lots to trade - my havelist is NOT complete!!!
you guys rock! I think imma hit lowes for *most* of what we need. (since they double) but will wait for the ad to come out to see whats up. It's not like we will need alot (i'm bringing stuff with me) but milk yogurt etc will be needed.
I remember last year, eating wasn't even a thought. U just wanted to be out on the beach 24/7 doubt anything will change this year LOL!!
To those of you that close to the beach, IM JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lowes Foods has an online grocery ordering service. You wouldn't want to use it if you have coupons, but you can use it to look up the prices before you go and to get you coupons ready. Go here: Lowes Foods to Go - lowesfoods
Select Shallote, NC for the city and it will take you the online shopping feature. Enjoy your trip!
