Food Lion ~ Question: Food lion - coupon stacking!!

Help, I was told that you could use a FoodLion store coupon plus a manufacturer's coupon. I went to my Foodlion today and they would not let me do this. I called corporate and the lady told me "I should be able to use both coupons." I am in Greencastle, PA. I also called the Hagerstown, MD store on VA Avenue, and they said they don't do that either, that their machine is coded not to do this. Has anyone shopped anywhere around this area where they will let them do this? Chambersburg? Mercersburg?

Some FL store coupons say "cannot be combined with any other coupon". Recently that particular wording has been absent, and it has been determined by the mods here after checking with FL policy, that it is OK to combine.

I highly doubt their registers are programmed any differently than the rest of the FL stores.
You could just say - "Can we try it once just to see if it works?"
They may be surprised to find out that it does indeed work, and that may help convince them to allow it.
I also think that if you ask (the store that you called) they may respond based on what they think about your question - it may not sound right to them that you could use 2 coupons on one product, especially if they don't understand coupon economics. But if you just go and hand the coupons over, they will probably scan them without looking.
It may also help to talk to the store manager and explain the answer you got from corporate. If the SM says no at that point, there is probably not much you can do.

I have gotten a hard time at a food lion or two. I just got home from getting the marshmallows using my flip and MQ...no issues BUT I made sure to pick a cashier that I KNOW doesn't really pay attention-she needs this glass bubble thing to see the fine print on the coupons (she will use it when a Q beeps). I REALLY LIKE HER.

And I have done what Clippy says to do. I had to keep on asking them though, neither of us was giving up easily....I won in the end. The cashier did say that it was new to her (but that doesn't make her right!). So who knows how many others she shot down.

The official policy states that the only way you cannot is if "either coupon prohibits it" so as long as the wording is not back on the FLIPs (it's not right now but make sure and check each week) then it is within their policy.

Some FLIPs have also been manufacturer's coupons recently and not store coupons - if that is the case then you can only use one manufacturer's coupon - either the FLIP or your insert coupon (or whatever). But if the FLIP says "store coupon" then you can use one store coupon and one manufacturer's coupon - per their policy.

I agree with Clippy and Ummm - take the coupons to the store - go through the line and just hand them to the cashier - I wouldn't ask in advance.

Also it is a lot easier when you are buying several things and using several coupons. I don't like to just go in and buy one or two things and have my total be $.02...I just don't care for the looks. But cashier profiling is important too. Some youngin (especially a MALE) they won't think twice about it but some of these middle aged women they think you are doing something wrong-sometimes I just don't want the hassle....then there are other days where I seek it.

My son says I am going to get in trouble some day for talking about the young male cashiers the way I do. I say they are my Favorites! I love me some young males...cashiers that is. In most instances they feel as though they aren't paid to care -having had many as my employees I can vouch for that.

My stores would not let me stack either they told me one coupon per item. I emailed corporate about this and here was their response, which states one coupon per item. This was last week.

Dear Mrs. XXXXX:


Thank you for your recent email. We sincerely appreciate you contacting us.


Our company will gladly accept manufacturer and store coupons, provided they scan in our register system. We will however, decline the use of single-sided coupons offering a free product, a coupon that has a higher dollar amount than the value of the product, a competitors' coupon, or if the coupon appears to be fraudulently generated, copied, or reproduced. Unfortunately, we will only accept one coupon per item. I hope you find this information beneficial and do apologize for any inconvenience. Please feel free to speak to the store manager with any concerns you have.


Again, Mrs. XXXX, thank you for taking the time to contact us. If I may be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to let me know.

That seems to be my problem, they don't know their own policy. It's very sad. I checked both of the coupons and neither of them say they can't be used together. I didn't ask about the coupons before I placed the items on the belt, but I only had a couple items, that was probably my downfall, she looked at them and noticed that I only had one of each item. The lady from corporate also asked me if they scanned, and I told her the young lady wouldn't even scan them, wouldn't even try it. Then she calls over another cashier, who never seems to know what's going on, but is in charge, I guess, and she shot it down also.

I asked corporate okay, you've told me that I can use both, but how can we make sure that the associates at this store know. She said she would send them a letter. I don't know what that means. She took all of my information, so maybe she'll send me something I can carry around. Thanks, everyone.

Ive shopped Greencastle Foodlion many times using FLIPS and man. coupons together and i have never had a problem. Also have done this in Chambersburg and waynesboro. :shrug7:
