a little brag, on unexpected deal

I went to Food Lion today, just planned on getting some blinkies lol, and some gb and buns. well they were out of the ground chuck until TUESDAY??!! so I had to get a different one, but got a $5 pack and used my flip. anyways, I was walking by the chicken and the orange markdown stickers caught my eye, so of course I go see what is marked down. well it was packs of chicken thighs (my favorite cut by the way), and they were marked down the 1.97,2.88,1.98, and 1.78!!!!!! so I grabbed them!! woo hooo chicken on a discount!!! and they all looked good and didn't smell so I was not holding back, and I got 4 packs! they were sell by 5/23, so that is why they were marked down. I almost didn't even go into this food lion, because it is not one I have ever been to, but figured I would stop and get a few things while on the way home. and I am so glad that I did!!

I love my early morning jaunts to the stores to look for marked down meat. I have gotten some good deals at Food Lion on marked down steaks and lean cuts of meat.

Awesome deals though!! I am not a thigh fan myself but only because a friend in college made me that way. Uncooked chicken meat...nuff said.

thanks to foodlion, i never buy meat unless its marked down! we have a SW that dominates around here, so there is always something marked down each week. i even have the cycles memorized. if i find a lot of steak marked down on sunday, i know the next big round of mark downs should come on thursday. same with the chicken. the key is to make friends with the guys in the meat dept. and ask them what time they normally mark down thier stuff. at the one by my house, they do it first thing, but the other further into town they wait till around 10 or 11 am.

I have had good experiences and bad experiences with marked down meat, so I have to be more selective, but bilo and foodlion is where I find the most.
