Re: How do I get my DS to drink from a sippy cup??? I agree- there's no hard and fast rule of taking it away at 1, like something magical happens at 12 months and 00 seconds. You certainly don't want DS to end up with an oral fixation from trauma over taking his bottle away...... yep, I know it's Freudian, but there is some truth to it. He'll get over it when he realizes how proud you are of him drinking from a "big boy" cup and will throw the bottle away himself. That's how I worked with DS. When he saw his little friends drinking from cups, he had no interest in the bottle anymore. My first step was that he ONLY got the bottle when he was getting ready for bed, no other time, and he was not allowed to take it to his room, only in his chair. All the "comfort" was gone at that point. You know your DS and his habits, so do what's right for y'all. |
