Also, applesauce and bannanas work pretty well, too!

~DS-8mo has egg allergy. I've been trying to decide on an alternative to cake because of the allergy. Have been told by several well meaning individuals that 'a little cake won't hurt him......HELLO!!! He's allergic to eggs - yes, it will!!!

~DMIL told me she hates paci's and when DS was just a few days old, she kept taking it out of his poor mouth because she didn't want it in any photos. I started yelling at her to leave him alone. If she didn't like paci's she didn't have to have one, but he likes his, so leave him be!
My DS is allergic to eggs (and dairy, soy, nuts, and a few other odd things) as well...we use either a tablespoon and a half of extra light olive oil or bananas depending on the recipe. For his birthday cake we used a yellow mix by Cherrybrook Kitchen (they make things specifically for people with food allergies) and it actually tasted great!

My favorite has got to be any advice on wearing shoes. A newborn baby wearing shoes that is. Some people think it is a necessity! I had heard from some people that you have to give a baby formula. There's no way that baby is going to grow without it. Really? How in the heck did the human race make it so far? I'll tell you that my second child was born with pneumonia and was in the hospital for a week after she was born. Her weight was 7lbs 7oz at birth, 7lbs 3oz at release and at her check up 3 days later she was at 7lbs 11oz. Yeah, my baby was starving!
My friend kept telling me the wonders of the cereal bottle. That that is what helped her baby start sleeping so long at night at 4 months (she'd been doing it for a while before that). My babies also started sleeping pretty well at 4 months old, right after that 4 month growth spurt.
Oh, and the whole can't take the kids out. Yeah, actually their immune systems are so much better for it.
I woke both of my kids to eat for the first 2 weeks, they had slight jaundice and rather than formula, I nursed them constantly. My milk supply was incredible and the first one gained over a pound in her first 2 weeks, No jaundice and for me it helped with spacing their sleep and such. But that's just my kids, they have a freak like me for a mom!
